The Continuing Education Division at Sandhills Community College provides a variety of computer courses for people at all levels of experience.

Discover the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and learn how to modify and enhance images, create composite images and successfully print photographs in "Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7." The prerequisite is "Windows Level 1." Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 20 through Oct. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. The course fee is $65 plus a $5 technology fee.

"Computer Keyboarding" provides the opportunity to become proficient and accurate on the computer keyboard. Students work with specialized keyboarding software to build speed and accuracy. The prerequisite is "Mouse/Keyboard Skills." Class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 20 through Oct. 20, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The course fee is $65 plus a $5 technology fee.

"Computing for Beginners Using Windows 7" will cover topics including starting the computer, saving work, hardware and software, computer terms, and navigating the desktop using the keyboard and mouse. The prerequisite is "Mouse/Keyboard Skills" or prior computer experience. Class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 21 through Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The course fee is $65 plus a $5 technology fee. This will be offered again beginning Oct. 13.

A new course, "Windows Level 1/Windows 7," will begin on Sept. 21 and will meet from 8:30 until 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 14. This course will teach students the basics of Microsoft's operating system. Topics will include learning to navigate in Windows, using the start menu, understanding basic file management, printing, and more. The prerequisite is the beginner's class or prior computer experience.

"Getting to Know Your Digital Camera and Beyond" will introduce or re-introduce participants to the camera settings, how and when to change them, the intricacies of lighting and resolution, transferring images to a PC, printing, and sharing photos with relatives and friends. Students must bring their camera, cables and manual to the first class and must contact the instructor prior to class at gingerichl@sandhills.edu. Class will meet Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 23 through Oct. 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. The registration is $65 plus a $5 technology fee. This will be offered again beginning Nov. 8.
