Sophomore cornerback Sam Brower intercepted three passes, helping the Pinecrest jayvee football team defeat Overhills 16-2 in Spring Lake Thursday evening.
The Patriots (2-0) also recovered a pair of Jaguar fumbles. Sophomore running back Zach Strickland scored both touchdowns on runs of 21 yards in the first quarter and one from three yards out in the second.
Matt Epley, another sophomore, kicked a 27-yard field goal for the final Patriot points in the third period. The Jaguars got in the board in the third quarter on a snap that went over the Patriot punter's head and was turned into a safety.
In Rockingham on Thursday, the Pinecrest freshmen (1-1) were defeated 6-0 by Richmond Senior in a defensive struggle. The only points came on a 20-yard touchdown run by the Raiders' Travis Singleton in the first quarter.
