With two league wins this week, the Union Pines girls’ tennis team moved to 4-0 in Cape Fear Valley conference play and remained undefeated overall on the year with a record of 5-0.

The Vikings topped Western Harnett 9-0 in its home opener Wednesday after opening the week with a 9-0 victory at league foe Gray’s Creek. Brittany Jones, a junior who moved up from the sixth spot last season to the current No. 2 player for Union Pines, had four wins in the two matches.

With a career record of 32-9 Jones joined sophomores Melissa Tally and Madison Kramer as the third Lady Vike on the team to reach the 30-win plateau. Meanwhile, senior Shannon Simpson (20-7) reached the 20-win plateau with two victories Wednesday.

Union Pines is back at home in league action Tuesday against Westover.
