Union Pines saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to Cardinal Gibbons in the second round of the NCHSAA 3A volleyball playoffs.
The homestanding Crusaders were just too much for the young Viking team to handle Tuesday in Raleigh. With the victory Cardinal Gibbons, which is the top-ranked 3A team in the state according to the maxpreps.com Freeman Rankings, improved to 17-2 on the year with the straight-set win and remain undefeated in class-three competition.
Union Pines finishes a strong overall 2010 campaign with a record of 16-7. The Lady Vikings were winners in eight of their final 10 contests of the season and collected the programs’ first playoff victory since 2006 with a 3-1 opening round home win over Southern Guilford.

I think you mean undefeated versus 3A teams. CG is tough but the Lady Vikings will be back as everyone on the team will be returning.

The story says "undefeated against class 3A teams"...and has CG's record as 17-2 on the season...so there is no mistake there, class 3 is the same as 3A RD28327....
And CG is a little more than tough...they are ranked tops in 3A, 2 or 3rd in most statewide polls of all classifications and also ranked nationally as well...they are an elite power in girls prep VB
