Three Family Members Arrested on Drug Charges

A search of a Southern Pines residence Thursday led to the arrest of three members of a family on various drug charges.

Spencer Leverne Horton, 42, Charlene Horton, 40, and Spencer Tremane Horton, 20, were arrested by Southern Pines police after the search of the residence located at 1115 Richards Street, according to a press release. During the search, conducted by officers with the department’s investigation and patrol divisions and the special response team, controlled substances and a firearm were seized.

The search was conducted after an investigation into narcotics activity occurring at the residence, according to the release.

Spencer L. Horton was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance and resist, delay and obstruct a police officer, according to the release. He was jailed, with bail set at $5,000.

Spencer T. Horton was possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance, according to the release. He was jailed, with bail set at $20,000.

Charlene Horton was charged with maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance. Her bail was set at 1,000.

Bond was set at $1,000.00 secured.

Geez....possession of a firearm by a felon plus drug charges gets bail set at $5,000. The person with only drug charges get bail set at $20,000. Something wrong here?
