S.P. Man Arrested After Vehicle Stop

A man was charged with possession of a controlled substance Thursday after a vehicle stop by Southern Pines police turned up marijuana.

Jermaine Michael Quick, 31, of Southern Pines, was arrested after a police dog alerted on his vehicle during the stop on Morganton Road, according to a press release.

Quick was jailed, with bail set at $10,000.

They say he was charged with possession, so it goes to figure he wasn't driving under the influence or he would have been charged with that as well. Perhaps he was traveling home with a new purchase and just happened to do an infraction which is harmless. Perhaps he was headed home to use marijuana in the privacy of his home and therefore is another jailed, non-violent offender. Drugs are bad. The drug war is worse. Check out www.leap.cc>
