Re-Elect Melton

Voters of Moore County, please join me to re-elect Jimmy Melton for a second term as Moore County Commissioner on Nov. 2.

I have known Melton since 1995, shortly after I arrived in Moore County. He is a successful businessman, a man of great integrity, a good neighbor and a caring family man. Most of all, he is forthright and honest.

I know Melton is the right choice to continue to serve as a Moore County Commissioner.

Is the John C. Owen writer above a former Chair of the Republican Party?

I am a Republican and I do not vote a straight party ticket. I choose my candidate very carefully. You should, too. Melton is NOT a good choice.

Melton followers always point out the good family man and businessman aspects without any regard to his actions and vote record as Commissioner that have been poor decisions and costly mistakes.

Melton voted to purchase over inflated priced land. Melton has denied voters a referendum on the $52.5 bond by his vote for a limited obligation bond that will be millions more in interest costs. He has denied work and planning sessions, and he always votes with Caddell & Picerno.

Melton has voted to forge ahead on a monstrous federal sized Detention Center/public safety building that can expand to 600 beds in downtown Carthage.

It's time for a new voice in Moore County government. Please vote for William Garner.

B-flat, the reasons given for voting for Melton by Melton supporters are are absurd. He is NOT a conservative. To say he is a family man who likes dogs for basing your vote???? Garner is a family man too, attends the same church as Jimmy Melton, and is really a conservative. Oh, yeah, he likes dogs too. So if you want to separate the two candidates just look at Melton's voting record:

Melton voted for the purchase of the Grimm Property at 1.5 million which had a tax value of $250,000!

Melton spent $397,000 on architectural plans for the Goveernment Complex Center which were thrown in the trash due to poor planning.

Melton voted for a 55.2 million dollar bond without a voter referendum. The size of the Detention Center is 3 to 4x more than what Moore County needs and is planned next to a children's elementary school, public library and children's ball field.

How will Moore County pay teacher's salaries when the Obama stimulus money runs out ?

Since Garner is a conservative against the 55.2 million limited obligation bond in this poor economy guess who gets my vote !!! Vote Garner.

A conservative would never support the Democrat Party.

Melton's actions and votes show he IS NOT a conservative.

The federal sized Detention Center/Public Safety building plans show it as large if not larger than Walmart with 2 to 3 stories. Have you seen the plans? Melton voted for it. A conservative would never vote for that in this economy.

Garner is a conservative and he is the best choice.

Caddell, Picerno and Melton are all good men in their own right. They all attend church, they all have families, and they all support excessive spending in a poor economy. What in a 206.2 million dollar deficit reflects conservatism? If it wasn't for Obama Stimulus Money, the schools would be 4 million short, the water funds wouldn't be available for water infrastructure [Caddells' Little River Golf Project] and not to mention the thousands of taxpayers’ money misused for person gain [Southern Software].

If find the fact that all of the straight line voting Republican's have no issues with North Carolina General Statue, Section 160A-86, requiring local governing boards to adopt a Code of Ethics. Commissioners are charged as public officials with upholding the trust of the people of Moore County and with obeying the law.

Melton and his handlers, voted to NOT adopt a Code of Ethics for the purpose to establish guidelines for ethical stands of conduct for all such officials per NCGS 160A-87.

Since they have until January 2011, they are on an out-of-control spending spree. Someone please point out where they find conservatism? Just take a look at the line totals and anyone with an eighth grade math education can see where we are on a downward spiral.

But they perceive themselves above ethical behaviors....

Perhaps a decent buildable property is out of the question as well as an additional 25 double beds. Lies are all we are hearing from TPo3; so much for ethics or honesty.

How did Melton vote on adopting NCGS 160A-86 ~ adopt it next year!

MooreNorth says... "A conservative would never support the Democrat Party."

So who are you voting for since Caddell, Picerno, and Melton are as Liberal as any Blue or Yellow dog Democrat? Worse than Washington Liberals even though they are quick to accept credit for obtaining Obama Stimulus Funds. TPo3 should get all they can now, next year the schools will have to resort to cookie and bake sales to fund their budget while the new Federal Prison is being constructed....emergency funding from Washington perhaps?

One could wonder how those supporting the liberal spending would react if in fact there were three Dems spending us into decades of debt? Well two are former Dems: Caddell and Melton. They changed parties for the Pinehurst votes.

I'm voting for Jimmy, but that's not what I meant. How does Bill claim to be a conservative, but register as a Democrat. The two go together like oil and water. How does a conservative read the Democrat platform, look at the party leaders and what they stand for, and register as a Democrat? That makes about as much sense as a conservative voting for President Obama, or drowning on dry land.

There are Democrats in the Tea Party! Check it out. There are lots of conservatives in the Democratic Party like the Blue Dog Democrats or the old Boll Weevils. The Republicans do not own the word conservative. When you have so called conservatives like Melton who are spending Moore County into oblivion forcing property reevaluations and higher property taxes then go with a Democrat. There is really not much party politics involved at the county commissioner level so why not vote for someone like Garner who claims they want the plans and costs revisited for the Detention Center.

Melton refused to take part in a Work Session proposed by Tim Lea to cut costs on the proposed Detention Center. I think Garner if elected would be the first one to come to the table. So, Moore North, If you have a Democrat who is more conservative than your Jimmy Melton you then did not vote for the conservative candidate. You just voted for a liberal spending Republican, Melton, who used to be registered as a Democrat. If you really want a fiscal responsible candidate then vote for Garner!

The track record of Melton shows he is not a conservative. Therefore, is he like oil and water to the Republican party? His poor decisions and wasteful spending is not in the best interests of Moore County.

Do you spend more than necessary when buying a home or car? Why should Moore County spend more than necessary? Melton voted against work sessions and planning session that would have explored cost saving measures.

No, no, and we shouldn't. While we're asking questions, can one of you tell me what the 55.2 mil bond you constantly refer to is for? I try to stay informed, but know of no such bond. 600 beds sounds pretty big, but isn't the number less than 200? Yes, there are Dem's in the Tea Party. Don't need to check it out, I've talked to them. If they ran for public office, I'd ask them the same question. For a Dem to say "I'm a conservative" says they stand against their party, and it's leaders. Does that make sense to you?

MooreNorth=> I don't know how to send you the latest figures that came out this month. It's eight pages long. If you or someone else will send me an email address, I'll send it by a return email so that you can evaluate the expenses and debt service for yourself. That way you can rest assured that it isn't a ~ he said - she said.

I haven't revealed the name of anyone who has contacted me and will not without you posting your identity first.

With respect to Liberal vs Conservative => I'm one of many Republicans who have views different than straight line thinking. If you go to the State Board of Elections, you will find many voters are changing to Unaffiliated and Libertarian.

In this election cycle, no one needs more spending on projects other than those that are most needed....

The first mistake we all make is to say...all people of any ilk...always do this or that.......we are all individual and have different opinions on different subjects...

The $52.5 million limited liability bond is for the huge federal sized detention center/public safety building in downtown Carthage and some utility improvements. Melton voted for it along with Caddell & Picerno.

As a result of the expenditures voted by Melton (& Caddell & Picerno) and the declining property values, a large increase in tax rates is certain to pay for the county's debts.

The location and future costs of a new court facility and further improvements to our schools will be added to the above pushing Moore County debt even higher.

Melton has been unresponsive to public concerns and has engaged in block voting to support these spending increases in a time when the economy is in a continued downward spiral.

It is now more important than ever to know the issues and to be a responsible voter. It's time for a new voice in Moore County government.

Vote for William Garner and restore the people's right to be heard, especially on major spending. William Garner has a MBA and will insist on careful planning for the future of Moore County.
