What Liberals Do

At a time when our country is coming down around our ankles and incredibly important issues are at stake, we have TV commentators and columnists, all liberals, wasting time hurling personal attacks at Christine O’Donnell, who has no chance of winning. Too bad for the people of Delaware; they’ll get more of Chris Coons’ ideology.
There is hardly a race taking place where the liberal candidate will debate the issues; all they do is demonize the opponent. This is what liberals do.
They look upon themselves as the intellectual elite, and if you disagree with their position, it makes no difference if you’re a Libertarian, an independent, a Republican or a conservative; your position doesn’t matter.
You disagree with Obama’s failed policies, you’re a racist.
You believe a mosque at ground zero is insensitive, you’re anti-Muslim.
You’re against government takeovers, incredible spending (a trillion dollars to create 92,000 jobs), bailouts and the health care plan, well, then, you’re just too stupid to understand.
Liberals complain Obama inherited the huge deficit. A short civics lesson for the intellectuals — budgets do not come from the White House, they come from Congress, and liberal Democrats have controlled Congress since 2007. Do the math — end of lesson.
As for attacking conservatives, look at these outstanding liberal examples: Pelosi (ineffective), Reid (useless), Rangel (39 years on the job?) and Maxine Waters (both under charges), Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (two men most responsible for housing debacle), Alan Grayson (dishonest) and Al Franken (a bad comedian and a failed radio talk show host, obvious qualifications to be a liberal Democratic senator).
Is there any wonder why liberals will never get it?

Neither "all" liberals anymore than "all" republicans are alike. Another example of black and white thinking that has everyone in knots. Take a step back and breathe a little.

"Neither "all" liberals anymore than "all" republicans are alike."
Bingo. It's impossible to take anyone seriously who does this.
As I've pointed out in several columns, all Republicans, even conservative ones, are not crazy tea partiers. But people like the writer of this letter make up some boogeyman to symbolize everyone with whom they don't agree, slap the 'liberal" label on them, and start raving.
greentara13 2 years, 7 months ago
The far left and the far right are a bit wacky when it comes to "discussing" anything. People are all different and that can be a good thing. When we start lumping everyone in these rigid catergories, we start missing out on good conversation and the possibility of new friends, with GASP! beliefs different than ours! How can that be? Call the press! I think we are in a day and age where people are breaking through these rigid "definitions" and showing that we can agree to disagree on a few things and also roll up our sleeves and work together.

Bingo, indeed.

Well before you start slamming liberals on their tactics, dare I say conservatives should look in a mirror first. That is unless the term "swift boat" mysteriously disappeared from the conservative dictionary. And for every Democrat/Liberal you hold up to the light, there is a Republican/Conservative that should be right up there with them. I didn't see the names Tom Delay or Larry Craig mentioned in your opinion or did the Republican party just accidentally forget them. If I were to look back at history, the Republican controlled white house and congress did have to lay a lot of the foundation for our problems now. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't the Republican Conservatives have the majority party from 2002-2007? Before slamming someone else, be sure to look in your own closet first.

Oh please people.... we need a country and a Congress that is diverse in their thinking. I honestly would "cringe" if we were to all espouse the same ideology and it was implemented with no diversity. We need liberals, conservatives, moderates. The art that is really missing from today's politics is that of compromise.

Clearly my mistake. Here I thought you were taking a broad swipe at all TEA Party members. I should have known better.
I make sweeping generalizations all the time, so it is not very hypocritical for me to say something like, "all Liberals are completely out of touch with the reality of productive American citizens," or perhaps, "all progressive Liberals currently pose a greater threat to prosperity and security of the United States than al Qaeda."
I am but a simpleton, after all; a real knuckle-dragger, some might say. It would come as little shock to anyone to hear me utter such painful truths.
But you!
You are so very far above such base commentary. You're a pillar of the community, a modern warrior-poet, a superhero for the common man, simultaneously defending the liberty of the "wrongly accused" and stunning the pseudo-academia with your pointed political prose. A man of such import would never make such generalizations about the TEA Party, particularly on the Web site of a local newspaper with such a user-friendly "search" function located in the top right corner of the page....

The issues in this country started long before the Democrats took over, so its unfair to blame just them. Personally I think congress as a whole messed everything up. The housing bubble started collapsing in 2006, before the new congress took over. Which then triggered everything else falling in upon itself. How many years prior did the pundits speculate as to when the housing bubble would collapse? Nobody prepared, democrat or republican, for the inevitable downfall. The Republican party owned the White House, Senate, and House at the time. So naturally they are the first in line to receive blame, but all of congress, the banks, and the real estate gurus trashed it all. Which goes back to my original point, before blaming one side, look in the mirror first. Now if you want to say the Democrats have not done enough to combat the crisis, I'll gladly be the first in line for that.

Aqua Buddha is like Bill Ayers in that it's something that's stupid for anyone to dig up and try to make a big deal out of. But it's also not something the Republicans can complain about after the last election.

"I swear it is their way or the highway. Seriously folks, you can say all you want about Fox News Network, but it is un-biased."
How can you label Fox as unbiased when it employs Mike Huckabee(R) former candidate for President, Sara Palin(R) former VP candidate, Dana Perrino former Bush press secretary, Karl Rove(R) aide to GWB and Republican strategist and the list goes on and on.
What "unbiased" source allows a paid employee to say that the "President has a deep seeded hatred for white people" and calls him a racist?
What "unbiased" source allows a paid employee to say "all muslim's aren't terrorists, but all terrorists are muslims.?
How can an "unbiased" source be named as being "in the pocket" by a Republican running for the Senate?
How can a source be "unbiased" when they constantly promote Tea Party rallies?
How can a source be "unbiased" when they allow a paid employee to say answering Census questions will increase "slavery" to the Washington "master?"
Fox News is a channel that promotes hate and mis-information. The only credible individual on that network that may ask a Republican a serious question is Chris Wallace on his Sunday show.
To be "unbiased," a source can't have an agenda and can't be driven by the extremes of the left or the right. Both extremes are dangerous in my opinion. Fox News can't be fair and balanced, because all of their anchors and contributors are Republicans. They donated 1 million dollars to the Republican party, but 0 to the Democratic Party. How balanced is that?
People who believe that a lot of this anger doesn't have anything to do with the race of the President are living under a rock. If race isn't a factor, then why wasn't there a Tea Party during any white Presidency? Why didn't I ever hear phrases like "take my country back" during a white Presidency? Why didn't I hear people questioning a President's religion during a white Presidency? Why didn't I see people dressed in nazi uniforms at protest rallies against a white President? Why didn't I hear people questioning the "legitimacy" of a President during a white Presidency? Am I supposed to believe that all of a sudden people are outraged and it is just a coincidence that the President just happens to be black? Congress hasn't been doing a great job for countless years whether Republican controlled or Democratic controlled, but still no Tea Party. The Tea Party, Right wing Republicans, and Fox News are one in the same and if that is your definition of unbiased, then you should re-look at the definition.

"You disagree with Obama’s failed policies, you’re a racist." No, maybe you just refuse to agree with anyone who doesn't 100% agree with your world view.
"You believe a mosque at ground zero is insensitive, you’re anti-Muslim." Not anti-Muslim. Just misinformed and misguided.
"You’re against government takeovers, incredible spending (a trillion dollars to create 92,000 jobs), bailouts and the health care plan, well, then, you’re just too stupid to understand." I can't really tell you what you are, but I'm going to go with misinformed again. After all it was Bush 43 that started the spending with the bailouts and government take overs.
"Liberals complain Obama inherited the huge deficit. A short civics lesson for the intellectuals — budgets do not come from the White House, they come from Congress, and liberal Democrats have controlled Congress since 2007. Do the math — end of lesson."
A civics lesson for you, again I'm going to go with misinformed: yes, budgets come from the Congress. And yes the dems have had control of Congress since 2007, BUT they were under a Republican president for 2 of those years. I did the math. Obama was given an economy riddled with bullet holes and a debt that had accrued from 2 wars (one which was more unnecessary than the other, if you ask me). Our debt was stacking up long before Obama was even a presidential nominee. Which if we are still learning civics was before the dems took control of Congress. End of lesson.
"As for attacking conservatives, look at these outstanding liberal examples: Pelosi (ineffective), Reid (useless), Rangel (39 years on the job?) and Maxine Waters (both under charges), Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (two men most responsible for housing debacle), Alan Grayson (dishonest) and Al Franken (a bad comedian and a failed radio talk show host, obvious qualifications to be a liberal Democratic senator)."
If you want to talk about who is "qualified" then lets talk about that. Christine O'donnell ("I am not a witch"), whose bases her entire qualifications on an 8 day seminar where she "intensely studied" the Constitution, didn't seem to know that the FIRST AMENDMENT prohibits the U.S. from establishing a national religion...hmmm guess she dozed off during that lesson. Sarah Palin (quitter). All I'm going to say about her is that the last time someone put her in charge of something, she quit before her term was over. Seems super qualified to me.
All of that being said, the broad brush you have used to paint all liberals is quite ragged and I'm tired of hearing it. No more than all republicans like being called crazy, do we democrats all like being called elitist and snobby. I don't care about your policies or your affiliation. What I can about is your actions, ideas and policies. And that is what will be dictating where my votes go this election day.
latoriam32 2 years, 7 months ago
Many of you "angry" individuals are benefiting from the President's plans. Are you so outraged that you will reject keeping your child on your insurance until he/she is 26? Are you so mad that you will reject the tax cuts put in place for people that make under 250,000? Are you so angry that you will give up your Government run Medicare? Are you so angry that you will give up your Medicare part D benefits that weren't paid for when the bill was passed under GWB? Are you so angry that you would rather men continue to be able to get paid more than women doing the same job without recourse? Are you so angry that you want pell grants for students to be decreased? Are you so angry that you want banks to go back to servicing student loans and getting extra money that could be helping students? Are you so angry that you would rather us not develop green jobs? Are you so angry that you want our schools to continue to under-perform, and not be challenged to compete for funds to improve their educational plan? Are you so angry that you are against infrastructure spending to re-build this country? I guess you are just that angry huh? It's really puzzling though when you see all of those Republican letters that were sent to the administration begging for that stimulus money that they are so angry about. Conservatives were so angry with the stimulus that they went to the ribbon cuttings for all of the projects funded by the bill and took credit for it.

Accusing most people who disagree with the President's policies of being racist is a really stupid, desperate, divisive tactic.
If the election of President Obama occurred because of the actions of thoughtful, absolutely right people, then the results of the election in two weeks probably is a reflection of the same type of actions, right? :-)

For those of you who think Fox News is unbiased, even your "God" Bill O'Reilly admits they are biased. Check out his column for August 26, 2010 at his website http://billoreilly.com, the article is called "Scaring White People" He admits that Fox News and the Walls Street Journal are anti-liberal and he also says they are doing very well. But those reasons are for another debate, I imagine.
latoriam32 2 years, 7 months ago
@mauiman I am not using talking points. You don't know if I am a "moderate Republican," or an independent, a Democrat, or if I even label myself. In my comment I blatantly said that extremes on either side are dangerous in my opinion. I want my Congress people to do what they were elected to do, not to just say "no" to everything, and certainly not to say "yes" to everything.
I am still waiting on someone to give me an intelligent answer about why didn't we have a tea party in the past? Government didn't just start being bad and corrupted, and run by lobbyist.
There are plenty of reasons why a young adult may have to remain on their parents health insurance until they are age 26 that has nothing to do with "bad parenting." Some kids will go beyond 4 years in college for masters and doctoral degrees, and this provision will cover them beyond the 21 year age limit. Some young people will graduate from college, and not be able to find a job. This provision will cover them. Some young people may not have it all figured out by the time that they are 21, and this provision will cover them. Everyone isn't cut from the same cloth, and it doesn't mean that parents are failures just because they may have to carry their children on their insurance until they are 26.
I was born and raised in Moore County most of my life and moved to SC in 2006. When I got here, I quickly realized how bad so called "conservatives" have been for this state. The school system in SC is horrible. They are overcrowded, and underfunded. Education is the first thing that gets cut. Why is that? Why do "conservatives" love to cut education funding? Our youth will drive this country in the future. How can they compete with other countries when education is put on the back burner? Children in other countries are learning to build robots, but here in SC, Geography isn't even being taught. My daughter was crammed in a classroom without anywhere to even put her books. She was a straight A student at PES and went to hating school when we got here. I had to take her out of the school system here and home school her. She over performs on end of grade testing compared to the other students here.

I join the debate late. Yes, Fox News is biased and thank goodness since all of the other networks and cable news are too biased. So one out of how many is not bad for the conservatives.
Add Juan Williams to the debate now for stating the obvious; Muslims, or those who dress like them, on airplanes make him nervous - me too. When I am walking down the street and I see those whose pants are below their butt cheeks, I am nervous since they are angry about something and inviting public critique. So if you look, you could be a victim of their rage. The left wants to take over and redistribute everything; that should work out well for everyone, right.......wrong. We do need tweeking in many areas of our democracy but not an overhaul. They are rioting in Greece and France and soon in Germany. What do they want, they are out of money and can no longer give something which will soon be worthless. We are headed in that direction my friends. Bring back the draft, everyone should serve. Welfare for one year only, then get a job. Unemployment compensation for one year, then get a job. We can only be our brother's keeper for so long before all of our values are diminished. Make those who achieve pay for those who don't, the sort of stuff that will culminate in civil unrest to beat the band.......and so on.
blessherheart 2 years, 7 months ago
The nine hijackers, the shoe bomber, etc were not dressed in Muslim garb. The shooter at Fort Hood had on an US Military uniform. So why are you afraid? During the days of the Irish Republican Army, who btw used this country to funnel money for their cause, were you afraid of people with Gaelic accents or who wore crucifixes?
latoriam32 2 years, 7 months ago
@blessherheart I posted a similar comment, but for some reason I guess it was removed. I don't know but I said the same thing you did. How many of the 9/11 hijackers were dressed in muslim garb? I guess marathonman is too busy being afraid of people dressed in muslim garb, and people with their pants pulled down, that he can't be afraid of those that look like Timothy McVey. I wish I knew what a terrorist looked like, but I don't. I wish I knew what criminals look like, but I don't. I wish I knew what pedophiles look like, but I don't...I mean the list goes on and on but if we could spot out criminals and terrorists by what they "look like," then there wouldn't be any.
Behan 2 years, 7 months ago
Blessherheart: Gaelic is a set of languages, not an accent. The Irish "accent" is more commonly referred to as a brogue. Protestants also wear crucifixes. The IRA never attacked the United States. Other than that, you're spot on.
Behan 2 years, 7 months ago
Latoriam32: Are you suggesting we purposely ignore what appears to be clear pattern in those posing the greatest threat to our very existence out of fear of offending someone? Do you think the intelligence community follow suit?
latoriam32 2 years, 7 months ago
@Behan of course not. I am saying the same thing that blessherheart said. I am saying that I don't understand why Juan Williams and marathonman are afraid of individuals that are "dressed like muslims on an airplane" when none of the 9/11 hijackers were wearing muslim garb when they hijacked those planes. They were in regular clothing. I am suggesting that you can not profile terrorists and criminals based on attire. As far as I know the shoe bomber didn't have on muslim garb either. Juan Williams and marathonman have asserted that they get afraid when they see passengers on a plane "dressed like a muslim," and I am trying to understand why. I am trying to find a correlation between any airplane acts of violence and muslim garb. marathonman also says that people with their pants pulled down to their butts make him nervous because that means they are "angry." I am trying to figure out why. Is there a correlation between crimes in the country related to people(mainly blacks) lets be honest about what he is asserting wearing their pants saggy? I think that people wearing their pants down below the butt is silly, but I don't think that means those people are angry and want to hurt me. It has become a cultural statement within certain demographics. Based on that type of logic then I should think that people that wear earrings in their ears the size of cookies are angry and want to hurt me right? See how silly that is. Juan Williams and marathonman are simply trying to justify their fears based on stereotyping and ignorance, but not based in fact. If they weren't, they wouldn't spend their time fearing those dressed like muslims on a plane, but would focus their attention on their entire surrounding looking for abnormal behaviors and people acting strangely. Terror comes in all colors shapes and sizes. It doesn't belong to one group of people. "What patterns as you suggest" exist that are attributed to terror coming from people dressed like muslims on a plane? If you spend your time fearing those that are dressed a certain way, then you just may take your attention away from an individual dressed normal that is aiming to do harm.
I believe in freedom of speech though, and don't think that Juan William's should have been fired from NPR for what he said on Fox, although I think what he said is stupid and based on ignorance and not fact. I think its far more dangerous to keep labeling terrorists as muslims instead of what they are, and that is extremist, and terrorists. After all Timothy McVey is a Terrorist yet, I have never heard anybody call Christians Terrorist.
Behan 2 years, 7 months ago
I will also look for suspicious behavior on a plane. But I will apply the common sense filter (trademark, GOP, apparently).
If I see a 90-year-old asian woman acting nervous, fidgeting with her baggage, and trying to get out of her seat when she should be seated, I will certainly keep a cautious eye on her (mostly out of curiosity).
If I see a middle-eastern male between the ages of 20 and 40 doing the same thing, my spidey sense will be much more tingly.
Would you say that I am a rascist? You could, but at least you could say it to me when my plane lands safely at its destination.
There will always be the odd McVeigh. Terrorists will try to forward their agenda with varying degrees of success. They come in all shapes and all colors. But right now, at this exact moment in American history, it just so happens that it is a middle eastern man between the ages of 20 and 40 who is most likely to cause us harm.
Our intelligence community applies this filter each and every day, and thank God they do. I know I would hate to be the one who had to apologize to widows because key data was overlooked to avoid hurt feelings.
As for the saggy pants, I suppose you could apply the same common sense filter there. If you were walking down a dark street and saw a young guy in saggy pants heading toward you, would you feel the same way as if a older woman in a business suit was walking toward you?
The young gentleman in the saggy pants is much more likely to commit a violent crime against a stranger on the street--you don't need to dig up stats to recognize that obvious fact. That doesn't make the businesswoman an angel by any means--she may have already stolen $500,000 from your 401K earlier that day, whereas the poor shlub in the saggy pants is only after $50.
But it doesn't change the fact that at that instant, on that dark street corner, the young man in the saggy pants poses a more serious threat.
Of course, you might suggest that you would never be out on a dark street at night. And I might suggest that you should not discriminate against the dark--most crimes occur during daylight hours, yada, yada, yada. But who knows, you may have applied the common sense filter that told you to wait until morning to go get gas instead of filling up the night before. And in doing so, you may have avoided being mugged (or perhaps worse).
We all apply (or should apply) these filters all day, every day. We avoid certain situations because our common sense tells us something is wrong. When we refuse to listen to that voice--that common sense than most people are born with--THAT is when bad things start to happen. THAT is how victims are born.
latoriam32 2 years, 7 months ago
@Behan no I would not label you a racist. If you were suspicious of someone middle eastern that was fidgety, you would be suspicious regardless of what they are wearing correct? I mean obviously we are sensitive because of what happened on 9/11, and I think that is understandable. I just don't think that you should limit yourself by fearing those that dress different based on their religion or culture instead of being proactive and being aware of your surroundings at all times.
I fear anybody that I perceive can harm me, even if they don't want to. I won't limit myself to baggy pants, and muslim garb though. I don't care if you have on a suit and tie, or if you are homeless. If I don't know you, then you are a stranger to me, and therefore you have the potential to hurt me. I teach my kids that, so why shouldn't I follow it? I don't teach my kids to be afraid of "certain kinds of strangers dressed certain kinds of ways." If I were walking down a dark street alone, I would fear anybody regardless of if their pants were sagging or not. On the other hand, if my husband was with me and we passed somebody on the street with saggy pants at night, I would not be afraid. Having said that, I am African American, and my husband as well as my nephews and many people that I know wear saggy pants. I hate it because its silly to me, and I know that people perceive them to be "angry" and stereotype them as lazy people that don't want anything out of life often. My husband is on the Dean's list, and is a very intelligent person. His grandfather is a preacher and raised him, and his grandparents hate it too, but he feels that it is his business if he wants to wear his pants saggy. Not when he was working, but when he is out. Now if I was lost in Pickens SC by myself I would be afraid. Now I suppose one could find that racist, but that area is known to be filled with people that don't like black people. The point is that I am aware of my surroundings, and that dictates my fear, not what somebody is wearing.
Anyway thanks for the discussion. I don't disagree with what you are saying. Maybe its the way you said it that makes it more agreeable. Its ok to have a healthy debate and to disagree without being disagreeable. I just don't understand why folks can't try to stick to facts and stop belittling each other, and yes I will take my own advice. Peace
marathonman 2 years, 7 months ago
It is good to hear that those who suggest that those in Muslim garb may not be bad. In fact those in Muslim garb who are male and who have a beard need not be feared. Only clean shaven Muslim males will kill themselves. Those who are paying attention should also fear those whose pants are below their butt cheeks when they get on a plane as they are angry about something just as clean shaven Muslims are. Thus profiling could save a lot of lives. Pragmatism in the face of political correctness will begin the process of self determination and preservation of lives......maybe. There are those in this list who only wish to see themselves in print, maybe me too, but the debate should be joined by all who have an opinion. There are few on this list who spent their careers in the defense of democracy through uniformed service or civilian intelligence service, that is clear.

Insurance for adults under their parents policy is just promoting more dependency.

The economy is going to experience another setback: 3 banks have $234.9 BILLION....yes, billion, in foreclosures that were put on hold earlier in the year. Consider the further impact of that and beyond when other banks proceed with foreclosing. Obama wanted to stall it to allow people to restructure their mortgage and it is overwhelming.
The lastest attempt to blame somebody (banks) is coming from Mr Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee who is going to have a hearing on Nov 16 at 10a.m.. Enough said already?
Our economy is in continued downward spiral while some media and the government would like us to believe there is already recovery. The worst is yet to come for many years. Choose your candidate carefully when you vote.

" After all Timothy McVey is a Terrorist yet, I have never heard anybody call Christians Terrorist." Tim perpetrated his crime due to his anger at the government (yes, he was an idiot). 9/11 was done in the name of Islam. So we don't refer to him as a Christian Terrorist because he wasn't one. He didn't do it for religious reasons. We do refer to the Islamic Terrorists as such because they did do it for religious reasons.

GOP Candidate: Violent Revolution “On Table” | FrumForum
http://www.frumforum.com/gop-candidate-violent-revolution-on-table
Republican congressional candidate Stephen Broden stunned his party Thursday, saying he would not rule out violent overthrow of the government if elections did not produce a change in leadership.
In a rambling exchange during a TV interview, Broden, a South Dallas pastor, said a violent uprising “is not the first option,” but it is “on the table.” That drew a quick denunciation from the head of the Dallas County GOP, who called the remarks “inappropriate.”

Sort of like the Big Spending Detention Center Proponents’; lack of factual information, no figures to base their observations, lack of economic education, no accounting skills. Albeit – they [like you] can’t come up with one point based on a discrepancy of facts; just more of the same old BS ~ and really - from an academic - so you say? Sort of like a narrowed minded retired military person who thinks their way is the only way – works in the military where soldiers are told how to act, think, and respond without rhyme or reason, regardless of the (cause and effect)! Mindless loyality.

TinMan says..."I have never heard anybody call Christians Terrorist"
So TinMan you’ve never heard of the Crusades? The Crusaders butchered Muslims all in the name of Christianity. Ironically, they never won a battle. The Red crosses on their tunic’s provided excellent targets for archers ~ Just a little history to research.

dustyrhoades Jr.=> remember the pilot who flew his Piper into the IRS office? An Angry Caucasian who gave his all to the IRS, and his money as well. Support http://www.FAIRTAX.org
Howard Coble is opposed to a fair tax - he and others need leverage for politically supportive [LOBBYISTS] corporations need a new tax loophole. He's their go to politician....

@Toda The Crusades were a holy war but holy war does not equal terrorism. Also, you claim the Christians never won a battle. It is a huge topic so I will not go to far into it but start with the First Crusade and look into the battles of Antioch and Jerusalem. Guess who took the cities.

mauiman => Interesting how many universities have him as a guest speaker on their campus’s.” no responsible researcher would believe his illogic." For many classes in the UNC system, his DVD Lecture is required for Social Classes...and you have tenure at what school? "What would you do first?" treat others as you would want to be treated and love thy neighbor as thy self...a good start..... "And since you avoided the military, you really have no idea how we act or think." As I mentioned in another blog, my father was a First Seargent in WWII and highly decorated. I know how the military machine functions very well. Perhaps a better jab would be I avoided a very unpopular war that used carpet bombing at 30,000 feet, and napalmed small villages killing women, children, defenseless and elderly. Or is that more BS?

Blake=> "Salah ad-Din Ysuf ibn Ayyb (c. 1138 March 4, 1193)..."
What was the legacy of the Crusades? Williston Walker et. al. observes:
http://gbgm-umc.org/umw/bible/crusades.stm
"In the speech given at the Council of Clermont in France, on November 27, 1095, he combined the ideas of making a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with that of waging a holy war against infidels."
Sound familier? So ~ Blake ~ can you see a parallels between the Islamic extremists’ of today and Christians? Read on ….

mauiman=> and you are entitled to your opinion as well.
Many walk after their contracts are up to the local community college for GI Bill Free Education and some to Undergrad Schools.
Now you are a teaching Scholar? And the numerous Undergrad and Grad Schools, Wise has been paid to speak are now academically inferior based on your critique? Perhaps you should publish a thesis to refute his research on white privilege, racism, white denial, and the cost of inequality. The fact that he has spoken as a stipend speaker, at major universities, passes my litmus test…and since you have snippets as opposed to viewing his entire presentation, makes you a “cool aid lush”.
As part of our adult forum on racism in America, our priest will show the video in its entirety. Care to come? It’s like our priest said during one of his sermons, “there is no asterisk on the sign leading to our church on Massachusetts, that all are welcomed.”
BTW: Wise isn't a preacher or an ordained minister.

"BTW, the carpet bombing story is a weak excuse for avoiding military service." Those who were on the receiving end of the million tons of bombs wouldn't find it a weak story. Avoiding military? I'm here today typing away to narrow minded people like you, and my friends like Shorty Jackson lies in his grave, as well as many more who traveled around the world to fight those who are now our friends....
NAPALM => wasn't that found to be in violation of the Geneva Convention? How many children and their families were burned alive...weak arguement for not wanting to kill helpless human beings...Thank you for your service to America and Humankind.
