Jeep, 18-Wheeler Collide Head-On

A woman escaped serious injury this morning when her vehicle crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler on N.C.24/27 west of Carthage.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. this morning near the new McLendon Creek bridge. The woman was heading westbound in a Jeep Cherokee when witnesses said that she drifted left of center.

The woman was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver wasn’t injured.

One lane of the road was closed for several hours. Carthage Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS and Moore County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the wreck. The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating.
