Inspired by eclectic marketplaces of Africa, the Middle East, Asia and everywhere in between, "The Bazaar in the Secret Garden" will be held Saturday evening, Oct. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at 2208 Midland Road, next to the Broadhurst Gallery.
Proceeds will benefit the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
This secluded office building is a more intimate setting for this event, which offers a chance to escape to the exotic marketplace.
"We'll have a real bazaar this year, with local artisans selling handcrafted goods and an eclectic array of entertainment," said Amanda Jakl, special events coordinator at Habitat.
Vita Dolce Chocolates, a chocolatier based out of Whispering Pines, will bring mouthwatering truffles and nut bark; Amy Smith, a mixed media artist, will bring an assortment of paintings; Aldena Frye will have amazing floral displays; and Mara's Designs specialize in shell art, perfect for the beach house.
"This is just a sample of our vendors," says Jakl. "Come and see the rest."
This event will feature a Chinese auction, carefully chosen vendors hawking handmade goods and live music. Businesses from all over Moore County have donated everything from pottery to gift certificates for massage.
"'The Bazaar in the Secret Garden' is evocative of the rich tones and luxurious feel of an evening at a Moroccan marketplace right here in Pinehurst," says Jakl. "Stroll through the bazaar, savor a glass of wine, enjoy the live music and peruse the eclectic mix of antique and modern wares. There are goods that will satisfy the most discriminating of tastes and the smallest of budgets."
The event will start at 4 p.m. with beverages and light hors d'oeuvres. Cypress Bend Vineyards has donated the wine for this event. Beer and soda will also be provided. Penick Village is providing the food.
The Chinese auction winners will be drawn starting at 7:15 p.m.
"The auction will feature an array of items from businesses from all over Moore County, too many to list," says Jakl.
To top off the evening, the beautiful "Around the World for Habitat" quilt created by a Habitat volunteer will be raffled off at 7:45 p.m.
Guests will also be able to get their photo taken with fun props like African drums and Middle Eastern robes.
This event is sponsored by Pinehurst Radiology, Ellen and Lee Airs, Peggy and Bob Raney, Outreach NC Magazine, Cypress Bend Vineyards and Penick Village.
Tickets are $25 per person.
