Mistakes of the Past

I read with interest Paul Dunn’s column “Herbert Hoover, Barack Obama and a Banana Republic” (Oct. 10). One thing Dunn did not mention was that FDR never solved the Depression problem no matter how many government programs he tried.
In 1932 the unemployment rate was 24.9, and in 1938 it was 19.0. FDR tried using the Keynesian borrow-and-spend, like Obama is doing now, and it did not work. He never solved the Depression even with all the social and economic plans he tried.
We never learn from past mistakes.
