It was a fabulous evening in the SCC Horticultural Gardens at the First Fall Harvest Dinner in the Gardens on Sept. 30, with over 125 people attending.

The students of the culinary department prepared an amazing array of appetizers, entrees and desserts, which were accompanied by a nice selection of wines. The landscape gardening students created beautiful table flower arrangements and had the gardens looking spectacular. Over 11 inches of rain fell the three days prior to the event, so this was no easy task.

Sprinkled throughout the gardens was art work and sculptures created by the art department students, and during the evening sounds of the music department’s string quartet, choir and classical guitar drifted through the gardens. Even the weather cooperated.

The Sandhills Horticultural Society hosted the event and the entire board joins me in saying bravo to the wonderful students that made this a magical evening, and thank you to all those who attended.
