Eagles Fly Past Vikes 46-11 in Conference Football Action

Union Pines dropped its fourth contest in a row Friday, falling 46-11 to visiting Western Harnett in Cape Fear Valley Conference football action.
The visitors took a 20-4 halftime lead, with Union Pines' points coming on two safeties. The first safety came after Cameron Person tackled an Eagles' runner in the end zone and the second when the Vikes blocked a Western Harnett punt.
In the second half, the Eagles pushed their margin to 29-4 before the Vikes got on the board with an 85-yard kickoff return by Parris Manning with 3:50 left in the third quarter.
The Eagles added two touchdowns, one coming on an interception return, and a field goal to bring in the final 46-11 count.
Union Pines fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while Western Harnett is now 1-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The Vikings face Westover next Friday in its homecoming game.

It's time to get behind our coach....and push him out the door! The sportmanship dispalyed at the UP vs Pinecrest football game along with the present win/loss record is grounds enough to seek out a new captain for the Viking ship! If only Coach Frye would coach football as well as tennis what a power house the football program would be.
