Pinecrest hopes of a conference volleyball championship were dimmed by Tuesday's 25-22, 25-14 and 25-18 sweep by Scotland County in Laurinburg.
Scotland (7-0, conference, 17-2-2 overall) now has a two match advantage over the Patriots (5-2, 18-5) in the Southeastern Conference standings with three contests remaining. The Pats were scheduled to entertain Purnell Swett on Thursday.
Addy George had 18 kills and four blocks for the Patriots in the loss to the Scots. Megan Thomas and Callie Boone contributed 12 and nine assists.
