Bryant University freshman Dana Parziale has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

The June Pinecrest graduate received the honor after a strong showing at the UConn Invitational last weekend when he made semifinal appearances in both singles and doubles for the Smithfield, R.I., college.

He opened competition in the flight B singles bracket by beating Hartford's Josh Isaacson 6-2, 6-0. He dropped the first set of his quarterfinal match before storming back to defeat UConn's Wei Lin 5-7, 6-1, 10-8.

Parziale also teamed up with Connor Crowley to win two doubles matches, landing them a spot in the Flight B semi-final round.

The son of Dean and Laura Parziale, of Pinehurst, Dana won conference and regional titles as a member of the Patriot tennis team, losing only four singles and two doubles matches in his high school career.

In August, he won the USTA North Carolina State Hardcourt boys 18 and under singles title.
