Southern Pines has been hit by two armed robberies in the last several days.

Today, at approximately 2 a.m., an armed robbery occurred on South Mechanic Street, near Morganton Road. The victim was walking when he was approached from behind by two males, one of which placed a firm object against his back. The victim told police he believed the object was a handgun. The suspects fled toward Morganton Road after robbing the victim.

The second robbery occurred Sunday at 2 a.m.on Tanglewood Drive, near Morganton Road. The two victims of the robbery were sitting in a vehicle when two black males dressed in dark clothing approached the car. The two suspects implied they were in possession of a firearm, and subsequently robbed both victims.

In both robberies, the suspects physically searched the victims.
