The Market Street Brass Ensemble is coming to Troy to kick off Trinity Music Academy's concert season, Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church on North Russell Street.
Founded in 1974, Market Street Brass is the resident faculty quintet at UNC Greensboro. The group performs music in all styles, from Renaissance to jazz, in a wide variety of locations, including tours throughout the United States for music education conferences, public and private schools and universities and many churches.
In 2004, they played for the General Conference of the Methodist Church in Pittsburgh, Pa. The group has traveled to China, where they played concerts in Beijing's Forbidden City and Peking University Concert Hall, as well as being broadcast live on Chinese television from the city of Changsha.
The program for Oct. 5 includes selections from the classical repertoire in the first part of the concert and a lighter jazz in the second half of the concert.
Tickets at the door are $12 for adults and $6 for students.
