No Need to Speed

While visiting in Ashland, Ore., this summer, I was impressed with its speed limit signs in residential areas. They read: “Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25.” Of course in this area, no one cares to observe the posted speed limit.

"of course in this area no one cares to observe the posted speed limit"- this includes folks going west, to seven lakes, on hwy 211 that set their cruise on 32 mph and lets it roll!!!

No one cares to observe the posted speed limit here because a slow poke existance is always at the fornt of the line rubbernecking everything in site.

Wow, a lot of defensive people on here. I'm no saint and admit to driving a bit over the speed limit at times, but that doesn't make it right.

When's the 4 lane going in on 211 and 65 mph speed limits?

I agree there are speed limits. But it is also as unsafe to go to slow, especially on a busy road. Going 30 mph on 15-501 is far more dangerous than going 35 in a residential area. Have respect for everyone involved, go close to the speed limit. If you are afraid to go at least near the speed limit, find another route. If you have to go fast, dial it back some. Its all about respect for the residents and the other drivers. Besides I think its far more dangerous trying to get through any of the traffic circle, than the speeding issues. People for some reason can't yield and have to get out in front. It's all an issue of respect.
