Traffic on U.S. 1 this morning was backed up and moving slowly because of a four-vehicle accident at the intersection of Murray Hill Road and U.S. 1, near the Kangaroo station in Southern Pines.
While responders worked the accident, police directed traffic, with one lane open in each direction on U.S. 1.
Emergency responders took two people to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
