Hugs Across America and O’Donnells Pub are teaming up for the second annual Run, Ride, Drink and Hugs Chili Cookoff Saturday, Nov. 13 (rain date Nov. 14).
The day’s festivities will start with a 5K Run and 17-mile bike ride starting at 10 a.m. At noon, the Chili Cookoff begins.
The cost is $5 for adults; children 12 and under are admitted free.
Curt Shelvey, former Sandhills Community College culinary instructor, will judge two categories, Restaurant Favorite and Back Yard Best, with prizes awarded to winners of both categories. Proceeds from the race go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, and the Chili Cookoff proceeds go to Hugs Across America, providing bears to Chapel Hill’s children’s burn unit. Tony Barnes will be providing the afternoon’s music.
Entry forms are available at Swank and O’Donnells Pub. Checks can be made payable to Mac Hugs, P.O. Box 4321, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or dropped off at O’Donnells Pub.
