Pinecrest Hosts Middle School Debate Tournament

Pinecrest High School Speech and Debate is hosting the 5th annual Middle School Speech and Debate tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The tournament will take place at Pinecrest High School and is open to any student in Moore County in grades 6-8, in public, private, or home-schooling situations.
The tournament offers both Speech and Debate events. Events will consist of duo interpretation, humorous interpretation, dramatic interpretation, original oratory, impromptu, and public forum debate.
Descriptions, including time limits of each of these events, are available at the website www.pinecrestdebate.org.
The Public Forum debate topic for the tournament is: Resolved: K-12 schools should ban junk food sales. Debaters must be able to argue both sides of the resolution.
Registration cost per student is $10 and preregistration is required. Information has been provided to teachers at local middle schools. Registration closes Thursday, Nov. 4, at 6 pm.
