Criticism Was Wrong

Shame on our Congress and our president.

President Obama quite properly honored the Mexican president’s recent visit with a state dinner and an invitation for him to address a joint session of Congress. However, it was not proper for our president and members of Congress to give him a standing ovation when he criticized Arizona’s new immigration law.

The law is an attempt by Arizona to bring some order to their state, which has been overrun by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. This has caused a great drain on Arizona’s educational, medical and law facilities, and they are getting very little help from our federal government to stop this flow of illegal immigrants.

President Obama and Congress should be supporting our home team rather than the opposition.

I agree with Mr. Lain, Obama and his congress are embarrassments to American's with this stunt. At minimum, I would have expected the members of congress to walk out on the address followed by a strong letter of protest to Obama. This provides us with yet another reason to vote the misdirected parasitic leeches out of office in November.

Mr. Lain, Don't be surprised at the way Obama praises other leaders and puts this country down. That's just his M.O. Hopefully, the rest of the country will see what an embarrassment he and his cabinet are and voice their dissatisfaction at the next election.

You can always go to war, create animosity, hate, distrust, and death or you can use diplomacy, create friends, and partnerships. The first way creates perpetually developing enemies and an unsustainable burden of debt while the latter opens the door to dialogue and problem solving. A wise man once told me that you want people rooting for your success, not your failure. Under Bush, a lot of the world was hoping for our failure.

The problem for President Obama is that a large number of the citizens of our country don't understand him and he is not doing a super job of communicating to the masses on a level they can comprehend.

David, I agree 100%. What is wrong with this country? People have lost their minds and just believe that anyone can come here, pay NO taxes, get all the government benefits, not even speak English and its OK. Guess what? you can't even live in Mexico like that!! They have tougher rules than we do, but yet people are screaming about actually having rules to live by.

Drazil65 you are right on, BUT also the socialistic programs in the ol USofA that have been born in the past 50 years has also helped to breed this problem. Lets see I have no job in Mexico, I have no health care in Mexico, I live in a shack in Mexico, I have no car in Mexico but my cousin Juan in USA says all this is free to me if I just sneak across the border to the Ustados Unidos. And if they try to send us back we will protest and riot and they wont do anything about it unless we join the Tea Party.(had to add that) I dont know about you people BUT I cant get a job without my SS card if you want them to go home quit employing them, quit giving out free medical care to non Americans unless its life threatening then send the bill(s) to Mexico and their President and see if he doesn't stop the border crossings.

Can u and everyone else let up on Obama. Never in the history of all the presidents has people been so hypercritical of one individual as this current president. The people and the media has been super critical of this man and his administration and there have been presidents have done graeter harm to us and this country if the president was not of color what he does now would not make a difference.

Dear nbmoore, please read the letter to the editor at the top of this page. It addresses the fact that the president gave a standing ovation to the president of Mexico for criticizing the new Arizona immigration law. If he had listened to his military advisors and acknowledged the fact that radical Muslems are entering the US through Mexico, along with Mexican citizens, he may have been more responsive to the cries from Arizona. The influx of illegals coming into this country is burdening the taxpayers and our security is being compromised. From your comment, it appears that you are more in support of Obama and the Congressional Liberals who gave the standing ovation, than you are of the LEGAL citizens of Arizona, and the rest of the people who share this financial burden.

From the right wing lexicon: "Playing the race card"= pointing out the existence of actual racism.

buddysmith 2 years, 11 months ago

It is amazing to me how some people use a race issue when one disagrees with Obama. Am I suppose to blindly follow the fool because I dont want to appear racist? That is an insult to any American with any sense of political knowledge. Obama is the worst president this country has ever had. We have been basically leaderless since he took office, greater in debt, and the weakest we have ever been. I voted for him, I bought the garbage he was selling. I thought maybe with a Democratically controlled government things may change for the better. WOW, I cant explain what I was thinking. I didnt vote for Obama because he was of color, and I am not going to refrain from critisizing him because he is of color. Change we can believe in? How about change in our pockets left to live on! After 2012 maybe Obama should follow his true calling in life. A salesman!!!! He could get rich with the way he operates!!!

buddysmith - to be honest I would rather be "leaderless" than suffer through the bush years again.

You and others like you have given him less than 2 years to clean up the enormous mess left by bush. I wonder how loud your criticism was back then! Seems to me the word "fool" would be more aptly applied to "you"!

What I don't understand is why this administration continues to condemn the Arizona bill when it appears that a good percentage of the people in this country agree and other states are trying to pass similar bills.

What don't they understand about "illegal." I can only imagine how the people who have come into this country legally and have learned the language and did whatever was required to become US citizens must feel when all these illegals pour in and then protest against any action that would identify them and cause deportation. These individuals have no rights in this country.

I also agree on the fact that the illegals come into this country and then can receive free medical care where American born citizens are denied. I know that the illegals can get Medicaid. We reward criminal behavior.

Latinos--ones here legally--recognize racism when they see it, and they vote.

Here's an interesting question; why is someone/anyone a better Politian just because of their race or sex?

When the media was bashing Bush, it was acceptable and even flaunted as a fashionable thing. Now when anyone bashes Obama they reply angrily and play the race card? Last I checked the man is half Anglo-American and half African-American so just what justifies crying racism when a contradicting view or critical remark is voiced? Why was bashing Bush acceptable but bashing Obama not? Could this in actuality be the true racism?

I find that most of the racists are on the left BUT they like to accuse the right of being racists. If you listen to any conservative men of color who espouse accountability and responsibility in the black community they are labeled sell outs or worse. The likes of Al Sharpton etc. do not care for conservative men of color because it does not fit into their victim mentality agenda , even Pres. Obama played the race card during the campaign saying he didn't look like the other guys on the money. What a cheap shot....I don't care if your green...can you do the job?

0

I think the President and his VP are doing a good job given the circumstances. Much better than the "Maverick" or the "Spill Baby Spill" duo if they had won the election.

I like to criticize the white half of Obama. Hehe. That way I can't be racist even though I aint white.

Why wasn't he at Arlington on Memorial Day? I'm asking the white half just to be clear.

0

dustyrhoades 2 years, 11 months ago

He wasn't at Arlington because he was scheduled to speak at a National Cemetery in Illinois.

"Lincoln is one of the newer cemeteries run by the National Cemetery Administration, which manages the burial plots for honorably discharged troops and their families.

Lincoln cemetery was dedicated in 1999. It has just 17 troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The majority of those interred there are World War II veterans who died in old age."

Now answer me this question: why is this an issue for Barack Obama when it wasn't an issue for Ronald Reagan (who went to his ranch one year and went to West Point another)? Why wasn't it an issue for George H.W. Bush (who never went to Arlington on Memorial Day at all)? Hmmm?

Dusty read this....its a partial. Ronald Reagan Remarks at a Memorial Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia

May 26, 1986 Today is the day we put aside to remember fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. It's a day of thanks for the valor of others, a day to remember the splendor of America and those of her children who rest in this cemetery and others. It's a day to be with the family and remember. I was thinking this morning that across the country children and their parents will be going to the town parade and the young ones will sit on the sidewalks and wave their flags as the band goes by. Later, maybe, they'll have a cookout or a day at the beach. And that's good, because today is a day to be with the family and to remember. Arlington, this place of so many memories, is a fitting place for some remembering. So many wonderful men and women rest here, men and women who led colorful, vivid, and passionate lives. There are the greats of the military: Bull Halsey and the Admirals Leahy, father and son; Black Jack Pershing; and the GI's general, Omar Bradley. Great men all, military men. But there are others here known for other things. Here in Arlington rests a sharecropper's son who became a hero to a lonely people. Joe Louis came from nowhere, but he knew how to fight. And he galvanized a nation in the days after Pearl Harbor when he put on the uniform of his country and said, "I know we'll win because we're on God's side." Audie Murphy is here, Audie Murphy of the wild, wild courage. For what else would you call it when a man bounds to the top of a disabled tank, stops an enemy advance, saves lives, and rallies his men, and all of it single-handedly. When he radioed for artillery support and was asked how close the enemy was to his position, he said, "Wait a minute and I'll let you speak to them." [Laughter] Michael Smith is here, and Dick Scobee, both of the space shuttle Challenger. Their courage wasn't wild, but thoughtful, the mature and measured courage of career professionals who took prudent risks for great reward—in their case, to advance the sum total of knowledge in the world. They're only the latest to rest here; they join other great explorers with names like Grissom and Chaffee. Oliver Wendell Holmes is here, the great jurist and fighter for the right. A poet searching for an image of true majesty could not rest until he seized on "Holmes dissenting in a sordid age." Young Holmes served in the Civil War. He might have been thinking of the crosses and stars of Arlington when he wrote: "At the grave of a hero we end, not with sorrow at the inevitable loss, but with the contagion of his courage; and with a kind of desperate joy we go back to the fight."

Dusty --- I brought that fact up the other day to someone who was whining about Obama not being at Arlington. They had no clue he was to speak at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. All they could say was if the internet was around back in Reagan and Bush years then they would have lamblasted them too. Reagan didn't attend Arlington 4 years out of 8. Bush Sr. didn't attend a SINGLE time during entire presidency. W. Bush didn't attend twice inside of a 4 year period alone. And, ironically enough, the only recent president to attend Arlington on Mem Day every year while in office, all 8, was Bill Clinton. Hate Obama all you want, but realize when you are blindly cherry picking just to fit your preconceived narrative.
