Worthwhile Writing

Geoff Cutler’s well-written article (May 23) saved me the trouble of writing about Earle Hightower’s mean-spirited, illogical and stupid-sounding letter (May 19).

Cutler apparently read Sarah Palin’s book about her concern for the environment, wildlife and integrity in government. Most Americans see nothing wrong with hunting wildlife for food. Hightower did not bother with the facts.

While Cutler’s writing deserves a gold medal for intelligence and wit, Hightower can keep his “medals” for “illogical,” ridiculous “dialogue” and “use of the race card” to criticize Republicans for selecting Michael Steele as chairman.

Lloyd Barnes’ letter (May 23) also intelligently pointed out the many flaws in Hightower’s letter.
