Carolina Eye Presents Statewide Symposium in Southern Pines

Carolina Eye Associates hosted more than 400 optometrists and their technicians from North Carolina Feb. 6 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.
Attendees heard about the newest advances in eye surgery and treatments for eye disease during the 24th annual Robert G. Martin Ocular Disease Symposium. Martin founded Carolina Eye Associates in 1977. Since then, its flagship center in Pinehurst has been an investigational site for numerous studies of innovative -therapies for many vision-destroying diseases.
Carolina Eye surgeons presented information about severe diabetic macular edema, a variety of retinal disorders, presbyopia corrective intraocular lenses, the Intacs procedure, the relationship between cataract surgery and glaucoma, normal tension glaucoma, advances in intraocular lenses and special pre- and post-op considerations in cataract surgery, and symptomatic causes of excess tearing in patients.
Carolina Eye Associates has seven locations in southeastern North Carolina and an office in Cheraw, S.C.
