Jessica Garner drove in four more runs as North Moore defeated West Montgomery 8-3 Wednesday in the second round of the 1A West softball tournament.

The Lady Mustangs (25-4) advance to the third round to face the winner of Friday's East Montgomery-East Surry second-round match-up.

The second seed from the Yadkin Valley Conference, North Moore fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning against West Montgomery, the Yadkin Valley's fifth seed, but battled back behind the top of its lineup. Lauren Green and Caroline Childers both had big days on the base paths, with Garner doing most of the clean-up work for the second straight game.

In Tuesday's 10-0 first-round win over Mount Airy, the senior first baseman had five RBIs.

Senior Kelly Davis was the winning pitcher.
