Paul Jett, the highly regarded course superintendent who oversaw the preparation of the famed No. 2 Course for U.S. Open Championships in 1999 and 2005 is no longer associated with Pinehurst Resort.
Both Jett and Executive Vice President of Golf and Club Operations Don Sweeting were reluctant to comment on the surprising development which occurred on Thursday of last week.
“Paul is pursuing other opportunities,” Sweeting said of Jett's departure. “We wish Paul and his family well. His contributions to Pinehurst Resort were great and we really appreciate his efforts in preparing No. 2 for the 1999 and 2005 Opens. Other than that, I really can’t comment.”
Jett, reached by phone, simply said he preferred to not speak about what had happened. “I prefer to just say no comment at this time,” he said.
According to sources at the resort, the Golf Operations team gathered to discuss the next steps with a succession plan.
Bob Farren, the director of grounds and golf course management, is overseeing the aerification of the No. 2 Course next week as well as the restoration project the course is undergoing by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
Jett won international acclaim for his work during the two U.S. Opens and the U.S. Amateur Championship held on the course when Danny Lee won in 2008.

I agree.
The better story may be why Pinehurst course look to be in sub standard condition. It looked like they were painting the grass there for a while.

paul is not the problem the sooner they understand that BOB FARREN is the problem the better off they'll be. Bob is runing this place into the ground faster than a snow ball headed for hell'

Sounds about right about Farren. He has always worried more about his personal appearance than the courses appearance.

I don't think this is about Bob Farren. It's about Paul no longer being employed by Pinehurst Resorts. And I agree, this is not news, and nobody's business bu Paul's.

Its a sad state of affairs in Moore Co. when more comments are about a golf course and grass than cuts in our shool systems budget.

mniewaldrn--if if was not for "golf course and grass" there would not be any schools here. It is just a shame that upper management at the Pinehurst Resort has no loyalty to its employees.

I hope he was not one of the two gentlemen that had the dancer from pure gold over at the hotel last week?
