Southern Pines police are investigating an apparent aggravated assault outside a local pub.

According to police reports a 32-year-old Cameron man was standing outside O’Donnell’s Pub, 133 E. New Hampshire, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on April 24 when an attacker struck him with an unidentified object, knocking him to the ground.

“The victim was standing outside the pub smoking a cigarette,” said Police Chief John Letteney. “The suspect grabbed him, turned him around and hit him.”

The victim sustained a broken jaw and needed several stitches to repair his ear, which apparently was partially cut off, Letteney said.

The incident was reported to police on April 28.

That place should be shut-down. It has the "feel" of a club you would see in Fayetteville and seems to always draw a belligerent crowd, especially in the late hours of the morning.

odonnels draws the same sort of people as the ones who run the place.Similar thing happened there to a friend a few years ago...he almost died. They sent him home alone in a cab while his brain swelled. His mom luckily found him lying in a large pool of blood the next day.He was airlifted to Duke for open skull surgery and many months of recovery.Lots of better places to go than odonnels.
