Teenagers Charged in House Break-In

Two teenagers were arrested on felony charges related to a house break-in in the Robbins area.

Darius Dwain Green, 16, of the 294 Scotton Road, Robbins, and Joseph Nelson Rowley, 16, of 420 Beane Road, Seagrove, both face charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods and damage to real property, according to a press release. Rowley also faces a charge of communicating threats. Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Greene on April 21, and Rowley on April 29.

The arrest stemmed from a break-in of a house located on N.C. 705. Various items were taken from the house during the break-in, according to the release.

Both Greene and Rowley were released to the custody of their parents.

Chuck,

Pistol grip pump is excellent choice. Keep your loads to bird/squirrel shot and avoid using the Desert Eagle in the house. Why? Because slugs and pistol rounds have a nasty habit of missing their intended target and landing in the neighbor’s house, and sometimes the neighbor. This will most likely get you removed from their Christmas card list.

As for kiddies, they really don’t sound like choir-boys to me. However, they'll only get a slap on the wrist because they are minors. Really think this is a protection law we can do without. Although maybe 440 hours of “community service” over the summer at a homeless shelter or ACTS pantry might give them better food for thought than sitting in a county jail. Nothing builds character like serving others and these characters need to be rebuilt.

OldSpook is right, but one day very soon, these theives WILL run across a true 2nd Ammendment supporter. ChuckTaylor I agree with you on your right to protect yourself home and property but you have to know that when you pull the trigger you are accepting great responsibility. The snub nose 38 5 shot is a good choice because the bullets are not likely to go through what you shoot and hit someone else.

Gentlemen,

Think. It's dark, your blood is pumping and the excitement level is high. Your chances of hitting body mass with a pistol are not good. The choice of a pump shotgun is good, but a dog is even better. A dogs barking will deter most. For those who don't leave, the sound of racking one in the chamber should convince them of their error. If they are still coming, empty the weapon in their direction. "Honest officer, I was so scared I didn't know how many times I pulled the trigger".

Glock .40 cal here :)

Trinium night sights and a laser/light combo match up nicely with the hollow points that are resting inside :)

0

RmeMP 3 years ago

@Chuck- Yes, a Glock can fire underwater (with the appropriate mods) - but let me be VERY clear about this, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, and DO NOT ATTEMPT to shoot any pistol underwater without the proper equipment and training!

Glocks are more known for there durability, accuracy, and being well balanced thoughout the weapon; I can say that I have fired many, many weapon systems in my days, and while there are many fine pistols out there, I will never own one for self defense - EXCEPT for a Glock!

BTW, 9mm bullets can hurt people, but .40cal bullets will all but guarantee your "target" will not get back up ;)

0

silentbob 3 years ago

I am not diagreeing with you ChuckTaylor I agree you have every right to protect what is yours I would do the same and I also have several weapons including a shotgun close by. I was saying that the 38 snub nose 5 shot is a good weapon for self defense because the bullets are less likely to penetrate and hit something you wasn't shooting at. The other post is right that talks about adreniline and the other factors having an affect on how your accuracy is.

0

babiehop 3 years ago

The original point-n-click interface was a Smith & Wesson and the high grain 9mm rounds loaded in it have plenty of stopping power. Never have cared for a trigger lock myself, but to each his/her own. And, sorry, but bad guys don't get the courtesy of hearing one rack into the chamber to think twice about what they're doing. Neither will they be carded to check to make sure that they're not juvenilles. Toyotas aren't the only rejects that can be recalled by their maker.

Recently a young man came to my side kitchen door...It was 11:30pm, we live in the country, he had to have climbed over my driveway gate AND he didn't go to the front door. (At least I don't think he did- he certainly didn't knock on it.) I was sitting on the couch (most likely reading The Pilot online ;-) when I heard the distinct sound of my screen door opening. I ran, got the gun (357) out of its holster, hid where I could see the door clearly, and...aimed. I saw a face pop up under the blinds and I yelled "Get the hell outta here!" with as loud and as deep a voice I could! He said his car had broken down, etc. but I yelled again "I don't give a Bleep, get the hell outta here!"

Looooong story short, he most likely won't be running outta gas anytime soon and he probably went and bought a cell phone and some new underwear after that....Anyhow, I was shocked at how quickly I got the gun and how very ready I was to pull the trigger. I was ready to KILL him!

If the parents of these children are reading any of this PLEASE talk with them! See how we all are prepared for situations like this?! Look up videos of parents burying kids...show them, get to them any way you can to let them know what very well could have happened to them! I would hate to see some kid/punk basically throw away their whole life (or lose it) over something so silly as whatever they thought they would score breaking into a home.

*BTW, I do agree with the dog too- mine happened to be in the kennel at the time or she would have given that guy hell!

Tim: We were wondering if a military man like you, a soldier, er, could you give a man a lethal blow? Gareth: If I was forced to, I could. If it was absolutely necessary, if he was attacking me. Tim: What if he was coming, really hard? Gareth: Yeah, if my life was in danger, yeah. Dawn: And do you always imagine doing it face to face with a bloke, or could you take a man from behind? Gareth: Either ways easy. Dawn: So you could take a man from behind? Gareth: Yeah. Dawn: Lovely.

@The Needle and @Ross...I wasn't amused when my house was broken into a couple of years ago and I had several belongings stolen and a hefty repair bill. (Yes we are insured, but you know there's the lousy required deductible and the fact that we saved up on top of what the insurance co. allowed to pay for a BETTER door, security, etc. so it hopefully won't happen again.) Am I a 'dirty harry' wannabe? No, what I 'wannabe' is enjoying my peace and privacy and not have some low-life drunk break in and/or come knocking on my door in the middle of the night because he's an idiot who can't read his gas gauge. What I 'wannabe' is able to keep the belongings my husband and I work very hard for. I don't 'wannabe' having to explain myself and defend myself when some idiot(s) break in and I'm there to catch them and having to try and make the awful albeit split-second decision of trying to figure out if he's here to rape and/or kill me, my children, or does he just want an easy $50?

My point is that we shouldn't HAVE to have loaded guns in our house. These petty, low-life criminals have forced us time and time again to be put in this position. I don't 'wannabe' killing anyone. My life and my work is all about saving lives! But I will take one if I have to- even though I don't want to. I'd hate if these kids had been killed in the process over something so stupid. However, I favor the right to shoot-and-kill to protect mine/yours/theirs.

I have twice in my life(not counting military and leo time) been called upon use deadly force to defend myself and both times the bad guy had the strangest look on his face when he was met with armed resistance something to the effect of "it isnt suppose to be going this way". That being said i hope any one who has made the choice to not go quietly into the night will also make the effort to learn their weapon no matter your personal preference and when and how to use it

All one has to prove is fear for his life or the life of a third party. on this issue i hate to say it but i maintain a bumper sticker mentality of "Id rather be Judged by 12 than carried by 6" I am most certainly sure that if i cannot prove anything else it is the fact i was more worried that the crackhead that is breaking into to my house than the District attorneys office. One of the dumbest questions i ever heard was "is it legal to shoot somebody with a wadcutter" my response to that is when has it been legal to shoot anyone anyways. Hell if you beat him to death with a ham it would still be investigated by the DA's office because thats what they are tasked to do

@RmeMP=> and what makes you an intellect? Your comments reflect insuffient knowledge about issues, gender, and fact-of-law. Former military makes you - a what? LEO degree? You came up short during your exam on NC General Statues but then again, mail order degrees have a tendency to mislead those who purchase their on-line credientials.

Perhaps our on-line attorney - Dusty Rhoades could lend an educated point of view. But then again, an LEO mail order trumps a juris doctorate of law ~ right Mr. Military LEO?

0

SCCstudent 3 years ago

@recondo => so tell me about the last victum of a breakin in Moore County who was old enough to use a gun? Ex or former military, shouldn't you have a 50 cal with lazer sight, a shotgun with a pull string for invaders, and a gun over every door and 10 handguns with 15 shot clips in the bed? Paranoia is contagious when it comes to bad*** retired washed up military.

0

LucilleGreybone 3 years ago

Just curious. Which holds more relevance; a mail order degree, or an scc student/graduate? Hello pot, meet kettle.

0

RmeMP 3 years ago

@SCC"student"- Your continued immaturity does not amaze me, as well as your continued assumptions with other people's posts...

To set you straight, since you can't put two and two together, I am a former military policeman, who since finishing active duty, has earned his Criminal Justice degree - at a real college; so yes, I do actually believe that I know a thing or two about the justification of deadly force:)

0

SCCstudent 3 years ago

@LucilleGreybone => Try college algebra, Calculus 172, physics on-line! Obviously you have never taken a college semester at SCC? You and Command Sergent Major might find it more challenging than you might think!

BTW ChuckTaylor => I am an expert marksman: prone position, right and left hand, combat stance, and from 25 yards, I can hit a target shooting from a supine [on my back] position; started shooting a single shot 22 rifle at 6.

0

SCCstudent 3 years ago

Command Sergent Major: "To set you straight, since you can't put two and two together, I am a former military policeman, who since finishing active duty, has earned his Criminal Justice degree"

So three years in the military resulted in what? An education from a mail order course. Did the taxpayers pay for the paper? Apparently the military saw some officer material in your performance, but waited until you left to see that you became educated....

0

RmeMP 3 years ago

@SCC- OK, I'm done arguing with you about deadly force; I was simply trying to tell you that you were wrong in your first post - thats it. NC has adopted what is known as a "castle law" which is:

Use of deadly physical force against an intruder.

(a) A lawful occupant within a home or other place of residence is justified in using any degree of force that the occupant reasonably believes is necessary, including deadly force, against an intruder to prevent a forcible entry into the home or residence or to terminate the intruder's unlawful entry (i) if the occupant reasonably apprehends that the intruder may kill or inflict serious bodily harm to the occupant or others in the home or residence, or (ii) if the occupant reasonably believes that the intruder intends to commit a felony in the home or residence.

NC also DOES NOT have a "duty to retreat" law...

SO, if you find someone in your home and you believe that person is there TO COMMIT A FELONY (any class, not just "H") than you can terminate his/her life.

All these posts remind me of this little ad: To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 2009-05-27, 1 :43 a.m. E.S.T. I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend, threatening our lives. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message. First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment; I didn't expect you to actually crap in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 ACP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head ... isn't it?! I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again]. After I called your mother or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as well as those of four other people in the gas station, -- on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful! I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all the cash in your wallet.. [That made his day!] I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car. Perhaps I should apologize for not killing you... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider, the career path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky. Have a good day!

0

SCCstudent 3 years ago

@Command Seargent Major => if you had read my post as opposed to attempting to discredit my post, much of your diatribe could have been presented in a more educated and logically manner. It appears everytime I post something you become emboldened to take up a cause that your are not educationally prepared to defend. As a reminder: "B & E isn't an offense punishable by death....May 9, 2010 at 2:13 p.m." Probable cause of the intent to commit a felony within has to be proven. As opposed to someone who is intoxicated banging on the wrong door at 2am being shot and killed for being stupid!

@annettespal => that is really funny. Thanks for sharing.

SCC i dont like a fight and i certainly do not embrace a confrontation with anyone but if they are breaking into to my house in the middle of the night the only thing i have thats worth a dime at that point are my wife and kids. I do not own a small arsenal nor do i booby trap my doors (as the old saying goes fear the man who owns only one gun because he most likely knows how to use it). I advocate that it is the right of every person on the face of this earth to defend themselves and the lives of their loved ones and it is also the right of a person such as yourself to do absolutely nothing but sit there and take whatever abuse another person wishes to dish out upon them But if the bad guys do it once unopposed they will continue to do it time and time again until someone puts them in check or in the ground like i said i would rather sit in a long drawn out court battle over shooting some crackhead trash then to be cold dead and in the ground because i did nothing.

@recondo => my post wasn't aimed at you since your posts are sensible and not condesending. My remarks are targeted at RmeMP who persistantly challenges my every post. My screen name is not indicitive of who is actually behind those posts.

I agree with you and your dialogue concerning those who may unlawfully enter one's home. I too own guns and are very prepared to use them to defend family. One has to use caution when using deadly force and as I attempted to communicate, breaking into ones home is not a crime punishable by death and one who kills an intruder can be held accountable. RmeMP takes everything I say to the extreme - this isn't the first time. He also called Toda a lier. So I don't take stock in anything he has to say since he is a loose cannon looking for an arguement. I won't take crap from him or anyone else and it behoves me to understand why the Pilot Police doesn't find his posts offensive - they did with Toda.

@recondo => obviously you or Graybone have ever taken college transfer classes at SCC! Next time you are hospitalized, be sure and request that a SCC Nursing Graduate Student not provide care. I would bet a years salary that you nor Graybone could pass a math enterance exam for advanced math classes....prove me wrong! Talking out your asses....

0

RmeMP 3 years ago

@Recondo- Don't worry about "the student", nobody else here does;) She simply gets upset with me, because I have disproven almost every rant and tantrum she goes on.

In her original post, she wrote "Unless one can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the intruder was going to commit a class H felony, you might be going to the chain-gang yourself!" and I simply called her on it - and proved that she was wrong - ONCE AGAIN! An intruder DOES NOT have to have the intent of "committing a class H felony" before being blown away, as I proved to her when I posted about the "Castle law" which NC has adopted.

I like watching her get all huffy and puffy simply because she THINKS she knows what she is talking about; which then leads to her being outclassed, and outsmarted - this happens quite often:)

@RmeMP=> and what makes you think you are nostrodomus? You assume too much ~ "she" is germane to one with feminine qualities. You obviously are no longer in the military because of "don't ask, don't tell". Or perhaps cross-dressing. I see where this is going and I for one welcome your sarcasm...it works both ways ~ the difference is that I'm much more intelligent than you.

Here you go Command Seargent Major: Chapter 14 of the North Carolina General Statues. Punishments

Punishment for Felonies (14-1.1) Class "A" - Death or life imprisonment Class "B" - Life imprisonment Class "C" - 50 years or life imprisonment, or fine, or both Class "D" - 40 years or fine or both Class "E" - 30 years or fine or both Class "F" - 20 years or fine or both Class "G" - 15 years or fine or both Class "H" - 10 years or fine or both Class "I" - 5 years or fine or both Class "J" - 3 years or fine or both

Take your pick CSM - be careful - misdemeanors are not punishable by death; like killing someone who breaks into a home or in legal terms as defined by the the US Supreme Court, crossing the threshold. And should you spend some time at the courthouse, you will probably see that most B&E cases are reduced to misdemeaners with probation. So go ahead a kill an intruder ~ it's your life...not mine.

Graybone=> "Which holds more relevance; a mail order degree, or an scc student/graduate? Hello pot, meet kettle." your sarcastic remark - not mine. If you can't or couldn't pass math 060, perhaps an on-line degree like the one that CSM has is exactly what you need to advance a career in a professional field. In the words from Forrest Gump: "stupid is as stupid does". A line that is applicable to many who think they are literary genuses when they post to db's. Like Command Seargent Major! Washout....

be-hoove (bi hoov') v. 1. to be necessary or proper for as for moral or ethical consdiderations; be incumbent on; to be worthwhile to as for personal profit or advantage; "It would behoove you to be nice to those who could help you" 3 v.i. I Love to read stories like 75 year old beats down would be mugger or attempted robbery goes wrong 3 suspects dead not because i find them amusing in the least but because it sends a message to the next would be bad guy "hey i better think before i try this or i could wind up like this guy" and i know that is a far better deterant than the current North Carolina Justice System
