Monday afternoon Southern Pines police responded to Pinecrest Plaza for a report of a larceny and discovered a vehicle occupied by three people with merchandise that appeared to be stolen from multiple stores.

Officers from Aberdeen were also called in as some of the merchandise came from a store in Aberdeen.

The incident is still under investigation.

I happened to be parked beside this vehicle when these theives were caught and cuffed. You would not believe the amount of stuff in the back of that Explorer. I was in disbelief when I saw one of the women in the back of the patrol car mad and shaking her head with such an attitude because she had been caught! What I want to know is how do you fit that much Bath and Body Works product in 3 purses? LOL! :P

If they only knew....a police officer's daughter worked at one of the stores they hit and contacted the Southern Pines police with a full description of them, their vehicle and the plate number.....you never know whose watching. Three cheers to S. P. Police for taking that shoplifting call serious and reacting quickly!!

That was not evev half of it. They had a parking spot full of stolen merchandise from all the stores. Bath and Body Works, Claire's, Walden's Books, and Ross. These girls went on a shopping spree.

Times are tough and only going to get worse. People need to do like they did back in the old days, button down ur property and load ur shotgun. Folks, it's coming, believe me. My neighbor lost most of his crops last year to thieves that sneaked in at night, wearing black hats and clothes. They picked all his produce. Illegal mexicans. That sounds like a lot of work to me, byt some people actually are used to working, unlike others.

Cost of goods stolen - $200.00; cost of law enforcement to investigate: $2000.00. Good police work. Glad there wasn't a crime in progress on the other side of town. Group foto op.

I'm sure they had attitudes and the po-po was picking on them.

To SCCstudent:....Are you freaking kidding me?...no wonder our world is going where it is with attitudes like that...

mollym01 3 years, 1 month ago

SCCstudent- I promise you they had more than $200.00 worth of stuff!

silentbob 3 years, 1 month ago

It does not matter what the cost was it was a crime with three suspects and the police did their job. SCC student it was merchandise that was stolen and in your early post you seemed so concerned about SCC budget and taxes. These types of crimes make all of us pay more in the stores because they have to make up for the loss. Im not going to come down on you for you blog though you are only showing your age. I know what I posted here to be factual and I do not need to post a link. I am a cop remember.

@silentbob: where? its a felony in this state to impersonate a sworn police officer! Yep, its called inventory control. At some stores, people can just walk out with TV's or anything else and associates can't stop them.

"I know what I posted here to be factual," is that you in the foto? So does everyone else post "factual" opinions, or just you? BA - BAS - BS Bee u 1 2?

Wow! boobie, you should start writing on Wikipedia, they need riters who use run on sentences that end in prepositions with little or no punctuation.

"going to come down on you for you blog though you" see what I'm talk'n 'bout. Showing your age and IQ.

@mooremedic: What attitude? have you ever heard of rings who cause minor disturbances in one part of town and rob a bank on the other side of town? Yep they do that, mostly on the West coast. They also use police scanners to "listen" when police units check out at a scene. so if they have 4 officers and perhaps a plain clothes officer investigating a shoplifting crime, what's happening in town where there are banks and businesses with lots of cash???

"Officers from Aberdeen were also called in" yea, a police community event. How many are left in Aberdeen.

SCC student you talk like you know what you are talking about and we all know from your name that you don't have enough life experiences to know very much. I see you looked at the web site I sent to you, because your post said that no school offered a BAS in criminal justice well I guess you see it does. It is also obvious to me since you know so much about the police and you are not an officer that your experience must have come on the wrong side of the law. I also notice that you are correcting my grammar and calling me names, thats ok because you know that as long as you are hiding behind a computer you can do that and you should check your speeling before you start correcting me.

Spare us the petty comments & stick to the issues.

alliea 3 years, 1 month ago

to SCC student there were only three cops from southern pines and one from aberdeen. im pretty sure the rest of the town could spare them for and hour. they did their job catching the criminals and getting all the stolen merchandise back to every store. way to go S.P. and Aberdeen Police.

@silentbob: Is it Southern Pines Police Department where you are a LE?

"calling me names, thats ok because you know that as long as you are hiding behind a computer you can do that ", ~ and you haven't called other bloggers names who have expressed an their opinion? You've been on Expatriate and Toda's case everytime they post a thread. Are you the official LE Blog Cop? Go back and read your posts and then call the kittle black - booby.

@alliea: I'm sure the other officers had the town covered. For professionals, the fewer police there are to respond, the better the opportunity. But then again, we're not discussing a major metropolis. Small towns with one duty officer and a bank, present problems with response time as well as coverage.

@SCCstudent- you are a, pardon the expression, DOUCHE! Do you have the exact accounting numbers for the amount of merchandise STOLEN and the amount it took for the officers to do their job? No? So the numbers you used are just pulled out of your arse then huh? I have some numbers for you buddy - number of criminals = 3 number of police officers = 4, amount spent catching BADGUYS = PRICELESS!!! It's the LEO's around here, and every other town, who put there lives on the line every day to protect citizens (even ingrates such as yourself) who don't get the respect they deserve! Are there bad apples, yes; but a majority are honest, hard working, devoted HEROES! It's people like you that really contaminate the rest of society... I hope you have a great life with your sociology degree:)

Great job SPP. There's crazy, obnozious shoplifters in that shopping center every day, terrorizing the shop girls who try to call them on it. Wish you'd set up a system where they can call you up and get a quick response to catch more of the bums. How about shifting a car from one of those speed traps around town? :-)

Hey RmeMP: “Two ladies went on a shopping spree at various stores in three jurisdictions,” said Lt. Rodney Hardy of the Southern Pines Police Department". Dang DOUCHE BAG, you should use all the fingers on one hand as opposed to trying to use two hands. You must be another Nostradamus: But your quatrain is off "buddy". I'm not majoring in Sociology - where did you come up with that since SCC doesn't offer a degree in Sociology - pull it out of your A. Are you taking on the new role of blog cop or just smart a?

Hey RmeMP: "who put there lives on the line every day to protect citizens (even ingrates such as yourself) who don't get the respect they deserve!"

Are you talking about Detective Ed Harris who was gunned down in Hoke County during a drug investigation? Or Chief Ed Newton who was the last policeman to be killed in the line of duty in Southern Pines?. Please MP policeman, elaborate on those fine officers who have put their lives on the line. Well wait a minute: Check out some of this county's finest when they slide out of a booth; most get tables because of super-sized waistlines. Did you ever eat at Eastwood Diner? Yep, they put their lives on the line every time they sit down to feed their faces. Most departments will have to add truck shocks to patrol cars to keep from bottoming out.
