The Chick-fil-A in Southern Pines will host a fundraiser Thursday, March 18, to assist the family of Pinehurst police officer Jeff LaFave, whose twin sons were born prematurely.

A Pinehurst police cruiser will be parked outside the restaurant from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to give community members an opportunity to tape monetary donations to the vehicle.

"We are hosting this fundraiser to help one of our public servants who puts his life on the line for our community on a daily basis," says Eric Corbett, local Chick-fil-A franchise operator. "We are grateful for this opportunity to support Officer LaFave and encourage the community to come out to show him we are standing behind him in this challenging time for his family."

All donations will help offset the cost of living and medical expenses for th e family. The boys were born at 25 weeks and are being treated at Duke University Medical Center's neonatal intensive care unit.
