'Nine' Opens at Sunrise Tonight

With all the star power a movie lover could hope for, the next SunFlix movie at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines is the musical-drama “Nine.”
Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Stacie “Fergie” Ferguson, Sophia Loren and Judi Dench light up the screen. “Nine” begins today and runs through Monday, March 16. Showings are weekdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. The film is rated PG-13 and runs for 2 hours.
The film is directed by Rob Marshall and is inspired by Frederico Fellini’s classic film, “8½,” and based on the 1982 musical “Nine” that won five Tony Awards including Best Musical. The movie “Nine” was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actress (Cruz), Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Song (Take it All).”
The historic Sunrise Theater, located at 250 NW Broad St. in Southern Pines, is nonprofit. Ticket prices are $7 for evening shows and $6 for the matinee. Refreshments, including beer and wine are available, and all movies are commercial free.
