Pinehurst Garden Club has held a spring plant sale for the past 17 years.

The date for the 2010 sale is April 24, and it will be held in the Pinehurst Village Sand Parking Lot adjacent to Given Memorial Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"It's time to plan your garden color schemes and placement areas," says a spokesman. "We will be glad to take your pre-orders. Any Pinehurst Garden Club member will be happy to share more information with you including photos of our selections."

Wholesaler Jim Mathews will provide the club with red and green leaf begonias, vincas and impatiens in a variety of colors. Of course, red and pink geraniums will stand front and center at the sale.

There will be other plant selections available the day of the sale. These will include hanging baskets and plants for doorsteps, porches and patios. These annuals will perform for a good six months.

Proceeds will be used for Sandhills Community College horticulture scholarships and other local beautification projects.
