The Community Enrichment area of the Continuing Education Division at Sandhills Community College has several interesting courses that begin in March.

“Painting the Figure” will be under the tutelage of instructor Bancroft Brabner, who is academically trained and studied impressionism in Paris. Students will explore the process of figure painting, including form and shadow and painting from a live model. Experience with figure painting is required.

Meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 16 through April 8, the class will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration fee for this course is $65 and registration is requested by March 9.

Floral arranging and design is an art and a skill that can save you money and even become a moneymaking business as flowers are used to celebrate many occasions throughout the year.

“Flower Arranging and Design by Carl” will use hands-on projects with containers and accessories in relation to design, color and texture so students can learn the art of flower arranging and design.

This class will meet on Mondays beginning on March 29 and running through May 10, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (Class will not meet on Monday, April 5.) The registration fee for this course is $65 and registration is requested by March 22.

The Community Enrichment Division of Sandhills Community College seeks to facilitate learning and participation of adults in the region in order to improve their lives and the community.

Classes are designed to allow students to strengthen existing proficiencies, to experience cultural or academic enrichment, or to investigate a new curiosity.

Walk-in registration is at the Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall during the college’s scheduled hours of operation. Call (910) 695-3980 to register by phone using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
