Another day, another couple of society's fine youth wasted; literally... Look, I get it, I understand the philosophy of pleading out small fish to get the bigger fish... I have another philosophy, personally, that I would like to share; ZERO TOLERANCE! You remember don't you? The one we were all taught as children?! I would like to share to hypothetical situations with you if I may: 1) A little boy asks his mom for a soda after coming home from school, and she says no - he gets one from the fridge and drinks it anyway; she gets upset and tells him that she's dissapointed with him. 2) A little boy asks his mom for a soda after coming home from school, and she says no - he gets one from the fridge and drinks it anyway; she gets upset and tells him that she's dissapointed with him - and then proceeds to tell him to wait until his father gets home, where he will then be disciplined more severely. The little boy from situation number 1 says to himself, ahh heck so what if she is dissapointed, she'll get over it; the little boy from situation number 2 says to himself, dag nab it my bottom sure is sore, that soda wasn't worth what happened to me as a consequence! Now I am not saying, nor condoning, that physical abuse in any way should be tolerated - but I am saying that if the punishment loses, or never serves, as a deterrent - than there is nothing holding a person back besides their conscience (which we all know can be lacking at times, even with "good people"). PLEASE start taking this prescription pill epidemic in our county seriously!!! These are not "minor misdemeanor" charges that suspects are being charged with they are FELONIES - START TREATING THEM AS SUCH, PLEASE!!! -a concerned citizen
