Horse of the Year Euthanized in Vass

Wexford, the 1995 U.S. Combined Training Association’s Horse of the Year, was euthanized June 11 following a pasture accident at Lauren and David O’Brien’s Kincora Farm in Vass. He was 25.
The Irish-bred thoroughbred gelding was ridden by Lauren O’Brien (then Hart) throughout his long career, which was highlighted by a team gold medal in the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.
Faudree Takes Second
Local eventer Will Faudree and the Irish mare Andromaque finished second in the Bromont International CCI in Quebec, Canada last weekend.
The pair posted a double-clear stadium round to finish with 54.6 penalties.
In the CCI* division, Southern Pines’ John Williams and the Canadian sporthorse Sweepea Dean finished eighth with a score of 75.8.
Volunteers Still Needed
Volunteers are still needed for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park, which opens Sept. 25 and runs through Oct. 10.
Training sessions began earlier this month and are mandatory for anyone hoping to volunteer.
