More Pilot Pandering

The cartoon on page C2 of the June 6 paper is a record: at once pathetically inaccurate, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. A true journalistic triple play.
The Pilot is once again to be congratulated for its consistency since it is apparent that it feels the need to run a column, letter to the editor or something of this ilk on a fairly regular basis. Publishing a “cartoon” like this is base pandering at its worst.
Really, this “cartoon” looks like a poster that would have been met with hearty approval if displayed on the walls of the Third Reich Ministry of Propaganda in Berlin, circa 1938.
I’m sure Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler and Goering would have thought, and Iran’s president, Ahmadinejad, and the heads of Hamas and Hezbollah would think it excellent, tasteful if a bit understated.
What source will The Pilot use for its Middle East news feed in the future Al-Jazeera?
Real newspapers, such as Raleigh’s The News and Observer, run thoughtful, insightful columns by real columnists, such as Charles Krauthammer. I commend to your attention his column titled “And How Shall Israel Survive?” which appeared on page 10A of the June 6 edition. The article can be found at www.newsobserver.com. Search “Krauthammer” and the article will appear under the quoted title.
