East Carolina junior and 2007 Pinecrest graduate Seth Maness joined current Patriot senior James Baldwin III in being drafted in the 2010 MLB Draft.
Maness was selected in the 41st round with overall pick No. 1,247 by the Florida Marlins Wednesday.
The 2010 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, Maness logged a league-high 101.1 innings over 15 starts and posted a conference second-best 10 wins. He registered 90 strikeouts and walked just 16 batters all season and tossed one complete game, adding a save in one of two relief appearances.
The three-time first-team all-C-USA performer earned all-tournament honors after posting his 10th win during the C-USA Championships against Southern Miss, fanning eight and walking just one against the Golden Eagles.
With the win, Maness pushed his career record to 18-3 against C-USA teams and picked up his 28th career win, which ranks fourth all-time in C-USA history and is tied for fourth in the ECU career record book.
At Pinecrest, he helped Patriots to a 49-19 overall record as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was named Mid Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and first-team all-state as a sophomore under head coach Jeff Hewitt, a former ECU player.
