The Sunrise Theater brings to the screen its mid-June presentation, "Remember Me," starring Robert Pattinson, of "Twilight" series fame. This drama/romance begins its run Thursday, June 10, and continues through Monday, June 14, with shows weekdays at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday presentations at 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. This film is rated PG-13 and runs for 1 hour and 52 minutes. The film also features a fine supporting cast, including Emilie de Ravin, Oscar winner Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Pierce Brosnan and Tate Ellington.

The film's website provides the following summary: "Tyler (Pattinson), a rebellious young man in New York City in 2001, has a strained relationship with his father (Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family. Tyler didn't think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally (de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. But soon, hidden secrets are revealed, and the circumstances that brought them together slowly threaten to tear them apart."

Movie critic Brad Breven writes that "the quote 'life is full of surprises' is a popular one because it's true, and it's not often in film-making a movie is able to capture the essence of that quote and give it true meaning. 'Remember Me' manages to do just that, using well-developed characters."

Critic Peter Rainer writes that Remember Me contains "a few explosive sequences between Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan, playing his CEO father. But Pattinson is best in this movie when he's not shouting and throwing things, as in some lovely quiet moments between Tyler and his precocious 11-year-old sister - there's a J.D. Salinger quality to these scenes - and also in the intimate sequences with his star-crossed girlfriend."

The historic Sunrise Theater, located at 250 NW Broad St. in Southern Pines, is nonprofit. Ticket prices are $7 for evening shows and $6 for the matinees. Refreshments, including beer and wine, are available, and all movies are commercial free.
