Thank you, Vince Gill, and thank you, residents and guests of the Sandhills, for supporting a fantastic and magnificent evening of music and entertainment to benefit the kids of The First Tee of the Sandhills.

It is easy to see why Vince Gill is tops in the entertainment world after listening to his music and guitar playing and seeing his engaging personality with the crowd. We all hope this will be just the start of many more spectacular events at the beautiful Pinehurst Arboretum — and just maybe an annual event for Vince Gill.

We especially thank the village of Pinehurst, the Pinehurst Resort, The Pilot, W102.5, Tyco Electronics, Walmart and all our sponsors who supported the concert, and to the hundreds of volunteers who made everything go smoothly.

Many have asked how this event came about. The idea was born in the back room of Robert’s Golf one evening with Bob Burwell, Dick Pitassy and Dave Davis brainstorming on ways to raise money for The First Tee.

Dave had the Vince Gill people connection, Bob and Dick love music and kids, and after months of working out the details, the concert was scheduled to come to Pinehurst.

The First Tee cannot thank Pitassy (general chairman) and his wife, Thea, and Bob Burwell enough for the tireless hours of effort they put into every detail making this concert such a great success.

On behalf of the board of directors of The First Tee of the Sandhills and our kids, we again thank everyone who helped make the Vince Gill concert a smashing success for the Sandhills and for your support.

It was a festive evening in Pinehurst that will long be remembered.
