Woman Assaults Victim With Broken Bottle

Southern Pines police arrested a woman and charged her with aggravated assault following a fight Monday on Shaw Avenue.
Anessia Sonyette Bethea, 30, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent ot kill or inflict serious injury after police say she attacked another woman with a broken bottle.
The victim, Niesha McLean, 20, of Southern Pines, suffered lacerations on her arms, right leg, face and back, police said. She was treated at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Police say they are unsure what started the altercation.
“There is history between the two,” said Lt. Rodney Hardy of the Southern Pines Police department. “Apparently they do know each other.”
