Pilot Light: Heim to Lead Local Democratic Delegate at Convention

Jim Heim, chairman of the Moore County Democratic Party, will lead the local delegation to the biennial convention of the North Carolina Democratic Party in Fayetteville next weekend.
Heim says he expects most members of the executive committee to attend.
The July 30-Aug. 1 event at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux is expected to attract about 1,000 delegates and visitors.
This is not the year to elect state party leaders, but delegates will vote on public policy matters and adopt a platform. The Democrats will also attend seminars on such subjects as election campaign strategy and building grassroots support.
The annual Sanford-Hunt-Frye dinner will be held Saturday night. Former Gov. Jim Hunt, former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Henry Frye and the late Terry Sanford, who served as governor and U.S. senator, will be honored.
Gov. Bev Perdue is expected to attend, along with Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton, Congressmen Bob Etheridge, Mike McIntyre and Larry Kissell, and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, who is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
ETJ - The Moore County Board of Commissioners has made extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) appointments for two municipalities.
The board appointed Max Muse and Bob Hunt to the Carthage Planning Board and Tim Venjohn to the Whispering Pines Planning and Zoning Board. The board also tapped Shannon Cagle as an alternate in Whispering Pines.
They also reappointed Linda Pearson to a two-year term on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
DMV - The Division of Motor Vehicle window in the Robbins Town Hall will be closed this week, because the town's trained operators are on vacation
The Robbins office will resume its regular hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Aug. 2.
