Holes-In-One: Frank Lisco, a resident of Pinehurst, scored an ace on July 20, while playing the second hole of the CC of Whispering Pines East Course. He used his 7-iron to cover the 152 yards to the green. His wife Suzanne witnessed this third hole-in-one. The score is now three for Frank and one for Suzanne. They are contemplating a new license plate - "4 Aces" - which tells it all.

Jim Kelley, a member of Whispering Pines, scored a hole-in-one on July 21, on the 155-yard, 16th hole of the West Course. He used his 8-iron to reach the green and his playing partners were Art Woodward and John Gerwig. This is the third hole-in-one of his career.

James Blank, of Pinehurst, scored a hole-in-one on July 20. The ace occurred on the 143-yard 17th hole of the Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, N.Y. He used his 7-iron to reach the green. "I thought it went in, but my cart mate can't see very well and said that we would check it out when we get up there. Sure enough it was in the cup."

Pinehurst: The Silver Foils played on July 20 in an away day at Mid Pines Golf Club. The format was two best balls of the team. The winners: Estelle Menke, Nancy Blum, Lisa Akers, Cookie Kremer, 124; Cindy Motter, Cheri Guidice, Barbara Moore, Joann Breslin, 126; Lin Hutaff, Sis Liston, Vera Gabriel, Tricia Johnson, 127.

Nancy Geddes won closest to the pin on hole 11 for handicaps 0 to 23 and Nancy Bookmyer won on hole 8 for handicaps 24 to 36. Kathy Mondock won closest to the line on No. 1.

The Women's Golf Association played an Individual Low Gross and Low Net Tournament on July 15. Flight 1 - Gross: Maggie Sanger, 77; l Gloria Sectish, 80. Net - Jean Funderburg, 69; Paulette Clayton, 70. Flight 2 - Rhonda Brooks, 89; Jean Sundstrom, 89 (MOC). Net - Cathy Renner, 68; Janice Mellus, 69. Flight 3 - Gross - Karen Plankar, 93; Lynn Delgarn, 94 Net - Sue Ferretti, 68; Helga Pluckhorn, 70. Flight 4 - Jan Kuklok, 96; Lynne Heilman, 101. Joanne Drengler, 70; Helen Brissette, 74.

The Chippers played on Course No. 1 and the contest was even holes plus, with 50 per cent of each player's handicap used for scoring. The results: Bev Raffaele, 22; Janice Huff, 23; Ann Kastl tied at 24, with Marie Richmond.

Beacon Ridge: The Beaconettes played on July 22 in a net team event. The winners: Alice Shaughnessy, Pat Blair, Lore Olsen, Linda Talbot, 63; Susan Schurr, Carole Skau, Mary McMahon, Mary Hauck, 70; Sally Terrutty, Ann Doster, Barbara True, 72.

The 18-Hole Ladies played a best ball of the team event with the following winners: Ardie Dodge, Kathleen Deignan, Carolyn James, 56; Cindy Osborne, Dawn Shapiro, Mary McMahon, Barbara Card, tied at 57, with Mary Lois Teyssier, Ann Doster, Marion Goercke, Nita Hartless.

Southern Pines: The Par Seekers played on July 20 in an Even Hole Tournament, with 50 per cent of each player's handicap used for scoring. Flight 1 - Jenny Sherrill, Judy Barrenger, Elaine Workman and Joan McCreedy all tied at 41; Bonnie Quesenberry and Ginger Addis tied at 42; Louise Pierce, 43. Flight 2 - Nancy Jacobs, 39; Joy Shelton, 40; Jeanice Snyder, 41.

Knollwood: The Rainmaker's played on July 19, in a Team Play Tournament and the results are as follows: Peggy Jones, Dee Hancock, Mary Moore, 60; Barbara MacNamee, Liz Green, Shirley Reardon, 61. Peggy Jones birdies hole No. 8.

The Sandblasters played on July 20 and the format was two best balls of the foursome. The winners: Bill Crenson, Paul Leach, Bill Parke, Blind Draw, 25 (MOC); Steve Zachary, Paul Aschmetat, Bob Edwards, Bill Brown, 25 (MOC); Ron Flock, Dick Madeira, Carl Arnett, Blind Draw, 27. Wallace Gourley won low gross with 38 and Paul Leach won low net with 30.

Whispering Woods: The Men's Golf Association played on July 19 in a team event, with two low net balls needed on the front nine and one low net on the back nine. Bill Anderson, John Hamm, Bill Woodruff and a Blind draw won with 88.

On July 21 the game was 6-6-6, counting 1-2-3 low net balls, with the team of Bill Anderson, Al Gaeta, Tom Nagele and Hank Smallacombe carding a 118 score.

The Women's Golf Association played on July 20 in a Low Gross Tournament. Shirley Brennan won with 94 and Lisa Ritchie was second with 98.

Midland: The Ladies Golf Association played on July 20 in their Summer Games contest. The 18-Hole winner was Nancy Hartwick with 77. The 9-Hole winner was Bev Braunscheidel with 38.

The Men's Golf Association played a Nassau Tournament on July 21 in a two best balls of the threesome contest.

Overall: Joe Alden, Paul Aschmetat, Richard Madeira, 125. Harvey Koonce won low gross with 77. In the 9-Hole Skins Game Phil Colwell won on No. 6 and Dick Lawrenson on No. 8.

Seven Lakes: The 9-Hole Lakers played on July 21 and the tournament was "Throw out three worst holes." The winners: Flight 1 - Dot Sparke, 14; Betsy Jones, 15. Flight 2 - Do Shaver, 16; Gerry Sullivan, 17.

The Women's Golf Association played on July 20 with the following net winners: Peggy Ballew, 73; Joyce Charles, 81; Betty Larson, 69; Grae Starwald, 74; Bev Needler, 73; Kathy Goodman, 75.

Whispering Pines: The Ninettes played a "Fewer Putts" game on July 19 on the back nine of the East Course. The winners: Flight 1 - Mary Jakucyk, 16. Flight 2 - JoAnn Baron, 18; JoAnn Boron birdied hole No. 12.

The Men's Golf Association played on July 21 and 22 for the President's Cup. The format was two rounds of stroke play, net scores only, divided into four flights. Flight winners played a sudden death match for the overall championship.

Felix DeMasi, won the President's Cup defeating Jim Phillingane, Dick Mills and Joe Thomas in the playoff.

Mid Carolina Men's Golf Association: Kings Grant Golf & Country Club hosted the seventh Interclub Match on July 19, 12 clubs, with 10 players each. The game is played under USGA rules with five individual gross scores and 15 individual net scores, as well as team scores.

Gross winners: Marve Houghton of Anderson Creek won low gross with 70; Craig Meredith of Deercroft, 73; Greg Lookabaugh of Beacon Ridge, 73; Ed Zieglar of Pinehurst, 74; Bruce Weir of Pinehurst, 74.

Pinewild: The Women's Golf Association played a Peer Event on July 20 and the winners were: Flight 1 - Gross: Jean Grieshaber, 84; Paula Montgomery, 84. Net: Debra Regula, 72; Judith Kelley, 74. Flight 2 - Gross: Marilyn Mahan, 93; Bobbi Erdman, 96. Net: Joan Power, 72; Jan Cashion, 76.
