The Member’s Club at Pinehurst Resort was the scene of the Pinehurst Rotary Club’s annual installation banquet during which outgoing leaders were recognized and incoming leaders were installed.
The event this year featured entertainment by accomplished pianist Jim Kimball.
Incoming president Bob Desjardins received the gavel from the outgoing president Gary Williford in a well attended ceremony where many members’ wives and family members also attended.
Among the highlights of the evening were the standing ovation that Williford received for his successful year of leadership during which the club raised record-setting amounts of contributions for community and international charitable projects.
Another highlight was past president Mark Vaughn’s seventh Paul Harris Fellowship award. Immediate past president John Wittenstrom presided for most of the event and, as usual, provided plenty of humor.
The following board members and officers were installed by former district governor Tony Baker: Bob Desjardins, president; John Bullard, president-elect; Dave Rich, treasurer; John Parks, secretary; John Mecimore, foundation treasurer; Ed Carey, sergeant-at-arms; Mary Bridschge, vocational service projects director; Denis O’Brien, club foundation director; and David Williams, community service director.
The banquet concluded with remarks from Desjardins, who also administered the “Four Way Test” at the closing.
The Pinehurst Rotary holds a luncheon meeting each Tuesday at noon at the historic Pine Crest Inn on Dogwood Lane.
