A prolonged period of very hot weather is expected through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures in the high-90s combined with the heat index value will drive the temperature up to over 100 degrees for the rest of the week. Along with the humid air mass comes the chances of thunderstorms, usually in the afternoon and early evening.
Today, the temperature is expected to hit 97, with the possibility of reaching 104 when combined with the head index. Thunderstorms are possible, most likely between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
From Thursday through Sunday, the forecast is for more of the same, with the high temperatures are expected to reach the upper-90s.

So where are all the people who are always claiming global warming is a myth because it snowed somewhere in the winter?
A heat wave isn't proof of global climate change either, but it's less of an issue, becuase few people are really dumb enough to to claim that it is.
