The Moore County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced it will be holding a "lunchinar" from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce.

The program speaker will be George Harrison, assistant professor in the Department of Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Harrison will be speaking about media relations and how to use this resource to publicize your business. This program is $12 for members and $25 for nonmembers.

Preregistration and payment are required.

"Understanding how to work with the media can be very difficult for small businesses," said Patrick Coughlin, president and CEO of the Chamber. "Now more than ever it is important to use every avenue available to publicize your business, and George Harrison brings a fresh new perspective to the topic."

Harrison has more than 23 years of professional public relations and marketing experience with for-profit and nonprofit organizations in the health care and insurance industries. He earned a master's degree in business administration from Tennessee Technological University and joined the faculty of UNCP in the spring of 2003.

At UNCP, Harrison teaches public relations and advertising courses, as well as mass communication core courses, and advises the school's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Prior to joining the team at UNCP, Harrison was an adjunct instructor at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College and the Duke University Certificate Program in Non-Profit Management.

Harrison received awards for his works from the Mississippi Press Association, the Tennessee Society of Healthcare Public Relations and the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the American Marketing Association. In addition, Harrison is APR- (Accredited in Public Relations) certified by the Public Relations Society of America.
