Sex Offender Arrested for Being at Park

A registered sex offender was arrested for being at a park while children were playing on the playground.

Ronald Allen Craig, 49, of the 3800 block of Union Church Road, Carthage, was arrested at his home by Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators on Friday and charged with a sex offender violation of being on child premises, according to a press release.

The arrest of Craig stemmed from a report to the sheriff’s office on Wednesday that he was seen at the Vass Park.

ok, so this pervert not only rapes children but he also has a record of failing to register - not he's hanging around parks... this is an example of someone who needs to be put away for a long time before he reoffends; am i the only one who sees all these red flags?!

How many more are out in parks, ballgames, near schools and other places close to children that we don't know about? I guess everyone will have to start checking into the offender website to view the pictures so one will know who to report to authorities.

I don't know how accurate the NC Sex Offenders registry is. But it says he spent 4 years on a 19 yr 6 mo sentence for attempted rape. Then he was convicted with indecent liberties with a minor and spent 6 mo in jail on a year and a half sentence.

Now he is violating parole by being around kids. If it is true and he is found guilty of being where he is not supposed to be, he needs to be locked up for as long as the law allows. We need to protect the public from predators.
