This holiday weekend, The Haven-Friends for Life, an animal rescue shelter with over 31,000 adoptions since 1996, will be holding special adoption events at The Haven in Raeford, according to a press release.

As many Haven rescues come from service members who surrendered their pets to The Haven due to deployment, The Haven would especially like to see these “deployment pets” make it to a home this holiday. The Haven cannot guarantee which dog or cat came by this manner, but a large portion of its adoption population certainly has, according to the release.

The special adoption events will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

During this patriotic holiday, Army Sgt. David Osgood will continue his pledge to pay $10 toward the adoption fee of any animal over 3 years old adopted this weekend, according to the release.

“So many of these dogs and cats are pets from soldiers like me who deployed and couldn’t take their pets with them,” Osgood said. “The Haven has always been there for those service members and their pets and helping them find forever homes is how I’d like to thank The Haven.”

Each dog and cat comes vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

The Haven–Friends for Life is located at 400 Fulford-McMillan Road in Raeford. For directions to the Haven, click here.
