Mustangs Swept by Bears

North Moore's varsity basketball teams were swept Tuesday by visiting Chatham Central.
The Lady Mustangs fell 63-56 to the Lady Bears, who are alone in first place in the Yadkin Valley 1A Conference. The loss ended a seven-game winning streak for North Moore.
"The team gave strong effort tonight, and it's back to the drawing board," said coach Sammy McNeill.
North Moore trailed 30-27 at halftime but was outscored 33-29 in the second half.
Freshman Jalisa Davis led the Lady Mustangs (10-5, 6-3) with 17 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. Hillary Walters added 12 points, and Shakorya Brower finished with 11.
Sienna Courie led the Lady Bears with 29 points.
The Mustang boys (4-11, 3-6) fell 42-30, despite 15 points from senior guard John Spivey.
North Moore trailed 15-4 at the end of the first quarter and 21-12 at halftime, with Spivey scoring only two points in the first half.
He'd score 11 in the third quarter as the Mustangs cut the deficit to 28-21, but Chatham Central outscored the home team 14-9 in the final period.
