Sandhills Classical Christian School and Little Friends Preschool invite the public to an open house Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.

Parents evaluating educational institutions are invited to learn about the classical model, hear more about the school, and see the curriculum during this informational evening. The headmaster, teachers and current parents will be available to answer questions.

"The classical Christian model of education directs learning in a developmentally appropriate way and achieves greater success than any other curriculum model that I've used," said Kelly Poirier, director of instruction and curriculum. Poirier will present some of the real-world results of the school's success with test scores and student achievement.

The school offers a classical education integrating studies across subjects and grades beginning in kindergarten and continuing through eighth grade. The curriculum includes a strong phonics program, Latin studies beginning in third grade and a logic class. Little Friends Preschool offers prekindergarten and three- and four-year-old classrooms in multiple locations in the Southern Pines and Pinehurst communities.

It is a nondenominational Christian school applying the classical methodology to foster young minds to think clearly, listen carefully, reason logically and articulate persuasively. The school offers a full curriculum, including art, music and sports activities. A comprehensive study of the Bible is incorporated throughout students' education.
