The Center for Creative Retirement (CCR) at Sandhills Community College provides programs and resources that enhance the intellectual, physical and personal well being of the active retirees in the Sandhills area. The registration fee for these classes is $65 (waived for those 65 or older).
Heart-healthy, therapeutic laughter exercises enrich and benefit the body, mind and spirit.
The CCR is offering another new course, "Laughter in the Sandhills" Tuesdays, Jan. 19 through March 9, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Led by a certified laughter leader, this course, which is part of the Healthy Living Lecture Series, is a laughter workout for anyone who likes to laugh or needs to laugh. This class will be offered again in March.
"Financial Planning for Retirees" will be held on Tuesdays, Jan. 19 through Feb. 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. This course will cover the financial concerns including investment, estate, and insurance planning, income tax reduction, and portfolio balance to reduce risk. Participants will learn how to get more income from investments and how to reduce probate costs and estate taxes. Long-term care planning will also be covered.
Preregistration is required for all CCR courses. Register up to one week prior to the first class meeting. Walk-in registration is at the Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. For phone registration, which requires payment with Visa, MasterCard or Discover, call (910) 695-3980.
